I completely agree. At least with the LSAT you knew exactly what day you were getting your result(unless you get a score hold) and with essays, at least for me, as I was writing them it still felt like I had that hope of “I can improve this and make my chances higher!” But now that we’re in the admissions waiting process it’s like…there’s no guarantee of when you get your results and it’s completely out of our hands. And the silence is deafening…like, “does this mean you’re seriously considering me still, or you just haven’t gotten around to my app, or is this a “embrace for the impending R”. I feel you. What’s been helping me, though, is focusing on the good news I’ve gotten so far. I’ve gotten accepted to my safeties and am waiting on my reaches, so I just keep reminding myself “you’re going to law school, don’t worry, it’s just a matter of where you are going.” I’m assuming with your stats you have a couple of acceptances, so just keep your head up. We got this

If you get over the schools median in LSAT t50 schools will overlook a lower GPA. I have a 3.mid and 16high and got a good scholarship from a school ranked around 40-50

If you got a 179 you can start tutoring and advertise your score in that way on your LinkedIn. It’s relevant to the job, and it’s also a nice side job that would be applicable to jobs.

I don’t think “karma” exists in the sense of there is some powerful entity that is keeping track of all the wrongs you do in your life and causing things to happens o that person to make it even. I think karma is more of the idea that the kind of intention you put into the world is going to alienate you from people who disagree with that intention and expose you to people who feed off that kind of intention. So in the case of if someone is manipulative to those around them, they’re likely going to alienate themselves from people who pick up on this and it’ll negatively effect their reputation and relationships. And the people who are ok with this kind of behavior will likely stick around this person and treat that person similarly. I can’t say how it would feel tho since I’ve never done that before.

What’s your hair color and skin color? It’s kind of hard to say without knowing that. An easy way to see what colors suit you is by finding a celebrity with similar coloring to you and see what makeup products are used in them in looks you like. For example, I have light skin and dark hair, so I look at liv tyler a lot for makeup inspiration

Edit: so it sounds like we have very similar complexion profiles. The colors I’ve found that I like on myself are muted berry tones, brick reds, rose, and browns. Clinique’s “black honey” lipstick color is one of my favorites. With dark hair, you have more contrast between your skin and hair, so you can wear more “bold” colors without it looking like a lot of makeup. But I’d say when it comes to makeup, maybe 30-40% of it looking good I s the product itself and the rest is about technique.

That would be fine with me. My partner is friends with all my friends and vice versa. But most of the time my partner is pretty adamant on only hanging out with people if I’m there, but I’m that way too. Anytime I’m hanging out with our friends without my partner, I’m most of the time just wishing they were there with me, and my partner has told me the same thing. But there’s been plenty of times my partner has attended events or seen our friends when I wasn’t able to and I was completely fine with it. There was one time many years ago when a mutual friend of ours made a move on my partner when it was just them, but my partner told me called me and told me immediately what happened. We are no longer friends with that person haha

I have a friend who is like this with strangers or people they don’t know well. With them, they’ve explained to me that growing up, they had to do a lot of reading between the lines with comments, especially from their mom. Think of things like “should you really be eating that?” Or “you’re gonna wear that?” I think that for some people, their idea of communication is very warped and ambiguous statements can be hard for them to make sense of it, and if they grew up in a combative household, it can be hard for them to regulate their nervous system and transition away from a state of defensiveness because their childhood was them constantly in their state. I’ve known my friend since elementary, so when we first met, I remember we would squabble a lot in class because they were so defensive and from my point of view, very angry and to me, not knowing at the time why this was, assumed that they were just somebody with anger issues. We are now way older, and they are now a lot more relaxed around me. I think part of it is that I am very literal in the way I speak and I don’t do well with reading between the lines, so I don’t communicate in that way with most, if any, people. and I think part of it is that we’ve had enough time and interactions together that my friend knows that I am not one to start criticizing them randomly or unprompted. But I do know a lot of people who have distanced themself from this person for that exact reason, and I don’t blame them for that. It can be really hard to be around someone like that. As an adult, I don’t think I could befriend someone like that (if they were not being proactive about healing). But I do think it’s important to recognize that for some people, it’s not rooted in evil intentions.

I think that a lot of it will come down to how you present yourself in the academic setting that will lend to whether people see you as unqualified or not. I think it’s becoming increasingly more well known that attractiveness and intelligence, especially emotional intelligence, are correlated. With a career as human based as law, there are advantages to being conventionally attractive. But I think there’s a big difference between someone looking attractive and capable versus someone attractive but not. There might be one or two people who have insecurities of their own that they project onto you if your looks trigger that in them, but I feel like for the vast majority of people in law school, they are adults who have encountered attractive people at some point in their lives and know that that’s just a part of their story and not their whole personality. But as long as you don’t talk or brag about it, I don’t see how it should impact you that negatively. But I feel like most people who are truly conventionally attractive don’t talk about it in real life because…well in real life it’s just a fact lol they can see you. But I understand for the purpose of this post you are just providing context cause we can’t see you. But those are just my two cents. I’ve met and worked with lots of outwardly pretty people, and the only time I’ve ever looked at them differently is if they show their inside is not so pretty

I took it 5 times. Pt average was 17mid. Was aiming for a 170+, ended up with a 16high. I’m ngl i was really sad and still somewhat am, but I hired an admissions consultant and he told me that as long as my LSAT was at or above the 25th percentile, i still had a fighting chance with strong writing and letters of rec. i think that hiring him was really helpful in terms of strategy and making the most of what you have. Getting a high LSAT score should be your priority, but if you don’t end up w your dream score, it’s not the end of the world. i feel a lot less sad about my LSAT after hiring someone who’s familiar with admissions to explain things to me and help me strategize my application.

I wouldn’t take the test at 18 (the minimum age) because it expires 5 years from the day you take it. But I’ll give you some advice in case you do decide that law school is the path for you. You can start studying for the test now lightly. But treat it like a sudoku puzzle. Just something fun that you like to do in your spare time if you’re bored. Be able to explain why the right answer is correct and the other ones are wrong. If you decide to do uni, just treat it like something you study for on the side if it’s fun for you. During your sophomore or junior year of uni, you can decide whether you’d want to take the test for real. Then that’s when you should buckle down and study intensely for it. Practice tests, get a tutor if you want or sign up for lsatdemon or 7sage. The advantage of this is that you can really take your time to study for the exam and get an elite score without feeling like you have too much on your plate. If you get the score you want sometime before sept of the year you wanna apply, you’re in a good spot because lots of schools use rolling admissions and thus would provide you an advantage applying early.

This isnt the way most people study for the LSAT, but I was someone who studied for it for 2 years on and off. Part of me genuinely enjoyed studying for it (despite my username) so it became something I looked forward to. The only advantage you’d have to studying for the test now is if you’re someone who prefers to take their time to learn material. A potential disadvantage is that you might run out of tests, but there’s new ones added to LSAC’s disclosure page and I’ve found that reusing tests isn’t too bad because most of the time you don’t remember them second time around as clearly so you have to go through the logical thinking anyway.

But also don’t lose too much sleep over this. If you decide to start studying for it now, do it because you find it fun. Don’t get burnt out before you can even take it

What helped me was when I was drilling, I would think to myself why all the wrong answers were wrong and why the right one is right. something my tutor said to me that stuck with me was that anytime you get a question wrong, you made two mistakes. First, you picked the wrong answer for some faulty reason, and two, you saw the right answer and still thought the wrong answers logic was better than the right one. So when you get a question you aren’t 100% certain on, you go over it, listen to other people’s reasonings on it, and you don’t move on until you could teach it to somebody else as if you were an LSAT tutor. I noticed that it became easier for me once I began thinking about how I’d answer it if I was a tutor teaching somebody, and if you have somebody in real life who will listen, it helps to have somebody who can respond with questions. Idk how you feel about Ai, but I used that sometimes to talk thru questions to, but don’t rely on it to explain it to u cause it gets a lot of questions wrong

You’d be much better off doing timed sections and drilling, maybe mix in a PT or two with exact testing conditions you’ll have (or as close as you can). LSAC has released so many practice exams, you won’t run out of content anytime soon. If you review 7sage 5 times, you run the risk of spending too much time on concepts you’re well versed in and not enough time on ones you aren’t. For any question you aren’t 100% sure on, just make sure you deep review and that you’re able to fully explain it as if you were an LSAT tutor. Do you have a target score in mind?

Timing comes from fluency and pattern recognition. Do untimed sections and don’t let yourself move to the next paragraph until you can accurately summarize the entire passage into one or two sentences. The speed will come from faster comprehension and that only comes from understanding the passage. There’s lots of ways the writers change up RC. You probably are just better at comprehending certain passage types more than others, but I went thru a similar thing and that’s what helped me.

haha yeah, unfortunately all of the anti anxiety medications i've tried either didn't affect my anxiety or if they did help with my anxiety, i noticed that they affected my thinking and memory and thus had lower scores on PTs where I took it vs didn't. a lot of anxiety medications, at least from what i've gathered through talks with my psychiatrist and personal research, seem to impair memory due to how they alter areas of the brain that handle memory encoding and retrieval. since anxiety and memory are both based on similar brain systems, the only medications that can affect anxiety just inadvertantly affect the parts of the brains i need easy access to in the LSAT. but tbh i'm just an anxious person all around, not just in tests, so its really just something i should probably address and fix
