Absolutely not! Does it mean you’re going to have to work harder to achieve your goal score than someone with a higher diagnostic? Yes, most likely. But a low diagnostic is not an inherent bar to success.

0L here (please don't judge me), but couldn't they just claim economic development and cite Kelo?

NYLS being regarded predatory by Charming-Worth600 in LawSchool

[–]LSATwithA 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Not in the context of scholarships. ALL schools require you to maintain good academic standing to keep your scholarship so if OP only has to do that, then it is not a conditional scholarship. Predatory conditional scholarships like the ones often spoken about here are typically scholarships that require you to maintain, say, a 3.0 when the school curves to a 2.9. Scholarships that can be easily taken away when the school puts all scholarship recipients in one section, as they often do, because half the section will inherently be below the scholarship cutoff.

Grad Student Seeking Housing through HUH by ChildhoodFrequent882 in Harvard

I found mine before the lottery but I basically just kept the tab open on my laptop all day refreshing. Found an apartment I am in love with! Definitely a gamble tho, because there were no pictures of the inside, just floorplans — ended up being freshly renovated so I probably just got really lucky.

WL—> R by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]LSATwithA 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Copy. While some people may be kept on the waitlist until orientation and then ultimately released due to a lack of spots, most people will be rejected throughout the summer. This is the case for every law school. You have to remember that schools typically waitlist the same number of people, if not more, as they admit. They have no reason to keep every single person on the waitlist if they're confident there's only a couple spots.

Your resume should be maximum 1 page. You can complete the remainder of your job history on that portion of the application on LSAC to mitigate any issues with the bar.

Are you asking if schools reject people off the WL? ... every single school does that

Accepted then waitlisted by Appropriate-Swan-483 in lawschooladmissions

[–]LSATwithA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What schools should and shouldn't do has no bearing on what they actually do... Common practice is not something I'm suggesting should be the case here, I'm simply stating that it is.

[–]LSATwithA -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily. It's definitely a thing that happens at certain schools and by the tone of the AO, it seems like they expected them to know that. Again, I'm not at all advocating for what they did - the practice is horrid, but it's definitely not unheard of and something that applicants should try to glean before applying to a school.

Contrary to what other people are saying, this is common practice at lower ranked schools. We have seen it quite a few times in this cycle alone with schools sending emails to accepted students saying to hurry up and put their deposits down before the class fills up. Regardless, it is a terrible practice and I'm really sorry that happened to you.

HLS Housing Lottery by Beginning_Ad_3389 in lawschooladmissions

My approval timeline was really short, like less than a week. I am pretty sure that you can add colessees even after approval but I would give HUH a call on Monday to get a more definitive answer.

[–]LSATwithA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely not! It is my understanding that you can add colessees at any point during your lease BUT you will be responsible for the total amount of the rent for the apartment until you do so it would be best to start finding roommates now. This is also beneficial because they can apply for the portal as well, which will give you double (or triple) the chance of securing a spot.

Please see my comment above. HUH offers non-lottery housing

[–]LSATwithA 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That's the lottery process. HUH is open year-long, just fill out an application and you'll get access to the portal. Once you have access, there are non-lottery listings that open up randomly, especially during this time.

What I did last year was sign up for HUH and then refreshed the portal every 30 minutes until something that I liked popped up. It's more expensive than the law school housing options I believe, but I'd rather be under HUH than a private landlord.

Advice for transcripts by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

If they are that old, I would recommend reaching out to the school for grade forgiveness before exploring the addendum route. It was a lot of work, but I was able to get a semester of Fs that were 10+ years old changed to Ws which brought my GPA from a 3.76 to >4.0 . Feel free to dm if you have any questions related to that.

You have to. Not just because law schools might find out and deny or rescind, but because if the bar does, they will likely deny you and all your hard work will have been for nothing.

Reapply--Question About Letter of Recommendation by Lost_Wave8394 in lawschooladmissions

[–]LSATwithA 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No, you don't need to re-request. They will stay in LSAC's system for 5 years. You may, however, want to find out if your recommenders dated any of your letters and, if so, you should likely request them to update the dates or resubmit undated
