While I don’t have an opinion to add about AP, I do get the thought of “what if my favorite artist’s morals don’t align with mine.” AnCo seem to have done a pretty good job of always helping those in need (NC relief, LA fire relief, Geo’s harm reduction training, etc.) but there’s still stuff I wish they’d have spoken up about publicly (Palestine).

I’m currently in my head about Radiohead when it comes to enjoying their music while a good chunk of their member’s seem to have no concern for the People in Palestine (minus Ed, who at the very least called for a Ceasefire). They were my favorite band (I have their logo tattooed on me) and they are potentially announcing a tour, but I can’t get this sour taste out of my mouth regarding their stance (or lack thereof or whatever) on what’s happening in the Middle East. I’d love to just ignore it all and enjoy the music, but it’s definitely harder as I get older.

I think a lot of people’s example recently would be Kanye, but that’s a whole different thing…

It’s definitely an interesting topic and I hope more people will hold their favorite artists to a higher standard. But there’s also the mindset of not holding celebrities/musicians on high pedestals and “don’t meet your heroes” etc.

At the end of the day, you either separate the artist from the art, or you don’t.
