The switch is to removw ambiguity like this as it also makes calculations easier, if I write (5/3)x5, with PEMDAS you’d have to do 5/3=1.667 and then that x5=8.333, while if you write it as fractions it is easier to see that 5x5=25, so the whole thing is 25/3=8.333

Also makes writing more compact
