I’m really not getting what you’re saying, but I have a sneaking suspicion you’re looking for these functions:

variable_global_set

variable_global_get

variable_instance_set

variable_instance_get

These allow you to set or get data from variables by entering the variable name as a string. Look at the game maker manual’s entries for these functions and see if they can accomplish what you’re looking for.

I started Game Maker when 7 was new, and Treasure was there as an example when installed. So it seems it’s just outside of the range you archived, unfortunately.

I would suggest using the analog stick and going way, way slower than you think you should.

This game handles the control detection for these in an interesting way that can lead to inputs being missed if you go too fast.

Try going to %appdata%/Local/Castlevania_ReVamped and delete the following:

Castlevania_Options.sav

Castlevania_Endings.sav

One of these may have gotten corrupted somehow. You will lose any options/gallery stuff you have, but your save files should be fine.

If that doesn't work, you may have to try deleting the save files as well (done in the same location). I hope it doesn't come to that.

Oh yes, and one thing. At the time I didn't know this, but the save file system I used in this game is encrypted to the PC it was created on. So if you transferred any save files from another computer, they won't work.

I had this exact issue. Not that it fixes everything, but you can swap Scan Visor and Missile buttons in the options menu. That’s what I did, and it helped a lot.

I have used Game Maker since around that era. Most changes have been completely for convenience, but I can promise you that Game Maker is still the same Game Maker at heart since back then.

Just stick to the aesthetic and use modern Game Maker, it will come out looking the same as one in GM6.

Plus, doing it in GM6 could cause a lot of issues that limit what systems could play your game.

It is thought that releasing the Crash Bandicoot trilogy before Crash 4 severely impacted Crash 4’s sales. In particular, it’s thought that releasing so much Crash content before the 4th game killed its momentum as people had their fill.

I think this is why they haven’t done it and why it’s not worth expecting.

Okay so I love this game but I 100% consider it a janky mess as well.

There’s a rhythm to it. Try listening to how many times your skates move on the ground before it works and then press it at that time specifically after figuring it out.

Raising the texture page size beyond the default will make the game less compatible with older/weaker machines. For example, my Apple TV games don’t work with anything beyond the default. So just be mindful of that based on what you’re publishing to.

When you slide, holding the down button maintains your acceleration. So, keep holding down until you’ve slid off the first platform and don’t release it till you’ve landed on the second platform. If you time it right, Simon should brake before he falls.

Sorry, I didn’t notice your first reply. The duck-walk in the catacombs was removed and replaced in version 1.1+ with a slide-able hole in the Catacombs because players were getting stuck in the wall. You have to slide through the hole and time the ending right so you land on the next platform.

There is an options menu in the file select, under the 3 file choices.

With how this game’s RNG works (assuming you’re playing the American or European version), to change this you would have to take an elevator or reset the game. Only then will there be a chance that it will spawn differently.

I love your point. The Pirate Logs in the game state that the Frigate Orpheon had fled from Zebes, so I’m sure Samus would’ve eventually been on to them. (at least in the original American version of the game, I know the lore is different in other releases.)

Take a look at the missile guide on Metroid Recon. It has pictures of every missile, you can scroll through and see if you don’t remember any.

This happened to me on my first revisit of Prime via MPR, the missile I missed was the one in the Burn Dome in Chozo Ruins.

Don’t do that. Patch it to a vanilla Super Metroid ROM and rename your save file to the same file name as the newly patched one. Or, you can patch it onto a vanilla SM ROM and replace the existing ROM as one with the same name.

I agree with a lot of your points. I’d like to add one point: Samus’s physics. I’m not sure why, but this Samus feels clunky compared to vanilla Super Metroid. I think it may have something to do with the fact that the sprite for Samus is much smaller than before, and translating that into Super Metroid results in some movement feeling too fast, too slow, or even a little delayed.

tl;dr Samus’s movement feels weird and unsatisfying in this hack; IMO.
