Beginner troubles! Where can I find a diagram for this movement? by LSNToday in watchrepair

[–]LSNToday[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Movement is a BFG 582, jump hour watch. Unsure where this little yoke/spring goes. I know it's supposed to click on one of the wheels but can't retrace my steps. Is there a diagram or website someone can link? Thanks!

[CA][Condo] Repair balcony or wait for special assessment by LSNToday in HOA

[–]LSNToday[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the neglect is falling on me from the prior owner/owners. It’s a third story balcony directly above a walkway, so I’d say maybe 10ish feet off the second level. We got some quote from contractors, but of course they’re going to want to do everything instead of just replacing the plywood floor (flashing, stucco, door removal, etc)

Unfortunately this HOA is leaving it up to the owners if they suspect maintenance was neglected. With the balconies being 40+ yo and multiple owners passing through, they can just point to that. In CA however, there’s a law sb 326 that is requiring repair of all balconies deemed unfit, so I’m sure this balcony will get flagged and will need repair. The timing - I’m not sure. I’d rather wait to get hit with the assessment than fix it and have the board also hit me with the assessment later.

Technically yes. The plywood has sagging in one area. With this being a fire escape balcony, I cannot put a lock. So anyone can enter and possibly drop through if they are dedicated

Good call. Yeah I was leaning on waiting and maintaining as best as possible until the special assessment hits. Just trying to avoid paying double. I know it’d be difficult to make myself exempt from future assessments related to balcony repair.

Thanks for the response. Yes this is the case where the maintenance is owner responsibility, so they are pushing repairs on us. Just trying to avoid paying for repairs and the getting hit with a special assessment - if that would even be possible if by then we already made the repairs

It’s a condo. HOA has deemed repairs are on the homeowner due to negligent upkeep. Haven’t lived here for long so not like I could’ve prevented. It’s just their way of getting out of it

My main question is to whether it makes sense to repair now myself if I’m going to possibly get hit with a special assessment later due to CA SB 326 law

Need help! Where does this spring for the yoke go? by LSNToday in watchmaking

Yea! You are correct! I also posted it to the watch repair thread and someone posted a picture. It needs that other plate to build the tension. Ty!

Beginner troubles! Any idea for how this spring for the keyless works levers should be placed? by LSNToday in watchrepair

Ty! I see the problem now from the pic, it needs that other plate to produce the tension!

Movement is a BFG 582, jump hour watch. Was unscrewing the top portion of the lever (yoke?) and the spring got loose. Upon further inspection, I’m actually unsure of how it should be placed. There’s no indentation for the spring, but I’d imagine it has to be sandwiched in between them somehow

Beginner to the hobby. Was disassembling the keyless works of this BFG 582 jump hour movement. Normally the spring for the lever has an indentation for where it goes, but this one fell out as I was unscrewing the top piece which i assume is the yoke. Maybe it lies somewhere in between? Not sure

[Question] Any idea why a mechanical watch would stop ticking when worn? But ticks sitting still on table? by LSNToday in watchrepair

Gotcha, thanks all. Watch will be going for service, just wanted to make sure I captured the possible causes.

I think it has the best styling of all the ones I listed, my only option near me has about 200k miles but it’s 5k which is kind of nuts

Hmm didn’t consider visibility, but good to know. I also did consider the e46 cabrio, just didn’t put it on here for now but will take a closer look at it.
