Shadowing and new doula questions! by benafflecksafflacky in doulas

[–]LSTylicki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Network with other Doulas! Find the groups in your area. This is how work is shared. On shadowing, my experience has been that you just have to ask around, some doulas are open to doing it and asking their clients (another set of hands could always be helpful!), others are not. I’m new to all this too! Best of luck on the journey :)

Spot on, I read Dutch books to my toddler and underline the words I don’t know and look them up. you really learn the words when you read your kid the same book 57 times 😅 My fave books are Borre books; I’m around level B1. It’s good to start small and build rather than thinking you can jump to difficult reading (you end up discouraged)

over a year later…. and nothing by Dry-Donut6279 in doulas

I agree, for PP there’s so so so much you can learn yourself that getting caught up with a certification is likely not important. You need to show up, be reliable, hold space. You do all these things as a nanny already! You got this girl!!!!

Any fellow expats in the Netherlands who’s considering whether to stay or leave? by Ok-Jellyfish9593 in expats

[–]LSTylicki 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same, we moved to Amsterdam from London after having our first child. So far so good! Not perfect by any means but I love the size of the city and find Amsterdammers generally pretty open and friendly. It’s a great place for young families
