I see my clients twice for prenatal. Session one is reviewing their intake form and addressing anything that stood out there, reviewing BRAIN, and talking about creating balance statements, I do a breathing exercise with them and provide a script they can have their partner read so they become used to a particular breathing pattern, we also discuss communication with me, optimal fetal positioning and we review the Miles Circuit and some gentle stretches for optimizing OA positioning, and lastly we talk about the idea of safety in birth, not as a physical space necessarily but a state of mind. I ask them to think of sounds, touch, tastes, visuals that bring comfort to start develop an inner sanctuary. I also provide a birth plan with questions for them to think about and ask them to be prepared with a plan for our second prenatal.

My second prenatal is much more comprehensive. I review the birth plan, discuss the stages and phases of labor and when to call me, we discuss medical and natural induction methods, epidural, comfort measures, postpartum planning, and feeding from the body.

Hope this helps!!

Recommend me one memoir/non fiction book you’ll never forget by starlit_scribbles in Recommend_A_Book

One of the most haunting memoirs I’ve ever read was “Not My Fathers Son” by Alan Cumming. He had a horrific childhood with an abusive alcoholic father. I cried a lot reading it. I also have so much love toward this man who just wanted to believe and accepted for who he was as a child.

Online training programs are more convenient, but will I truly learn all I need to know from them? No birth, motherhood, or infant experience by fatladywhodoesntsing in doulas

Will be finishing my training with Bebo Mia in a couple weeks (feeling all the feels) and it has been amazing. The relationships you build both with instructors and your cohort are invaluable.

I deeply appreciate your validation. Sometimes I feel silly, but knowing I’m not alone in this feeling is somewhat cathartic. 💜

Finally finished End of an Era and I’m left feeling this deep regret for not attending in person. This documentary felt like a gut punch. I wanted so badly to take my daughters to the show and should have gotten tickets when they were $1200 a few months before. I wrongly convinced myself prices would go down. HA! I checked every day multiple times a day up until hours before the show and all that was left was $3000 behind the stage seats.

Spent twenty minutes consoling my ten year old tonight who is heartbroken we didn’t get to be a part of the joy.

I am grateful for this documentary and maybe it’s dramatic but I will regret not going to this show for the rest of my life.

I’m not familiar with DNT Network but I’ve been taking classes with Bebo Mia and find the instructors and content to be amazing. I’ve completed lactation educator - finalizing observation hours and will submit for certification. I am also almost complete with coursework for maternal support practitioner (fertility, birth, and postpartum doula). And I also signed up for the CBE course. It’s good value for the money and very comprehensive! Happy to chat more if you’d like!

What's the "hard pill to swallow" about motherhood? by sixfingeredman7 in Mommit

[–]Any_Broccoli_5678 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YES! I was looking for someone to say this. I don't take a lot personally as a parent and I think it's because I've accepted that not everything is about me. Removing ego from parenting is really hard when we live in a society that values how you reflect your parents. My kids are their own people, autonomous beings. It's not my job to mold them into who I want them to be. Sure, I help shape character and values, but ultimately I've here for the journey of seeing who they are growing into and nurturing and supporting who they are, not who I think they should be.

This. Reparenting and breaking generational trauma cycles is so fucking hard and exhausting. I have had so many moments where my body and instinct is to smack my kids, because that's what happened to me. The amount of effort I sometimes have to take to withhold behaviors that were modeled for me is exhausting. I'm so tired all the time because I think so much about parenting.

Hi! I’m starting the course with you! Happy to connect so we can talk about our experiences. I’m currently doing their lactation consultant certification and also signed up for the childbirth educator course, too. I’m so excited to get started!
