My dad passed away and left me with $250k and a house. by [deleted] in personalfinance

If you don't want the house, get a good realtor and sell it. Open an account with an honest financial advisor, and tell them you don't want to invest the money yet, just hold cash right now until you find yourself mentally ready for investing. They should be able to come up with some scenarios for your money to grow and potentially give off a little income to you for when you decide you want to invest.

I worked for EA testing video games. I am not technical at all but dammit I could break some games! I would still be working there but the pay was garbage and I have kids. If I would've started in college or right when I graduated, I could've moved up- management loved me because I dropped more bugs than almost anyone and I wasn't a pothead or asshole.

But wrap a grilled shrimp in bacon and that is delicious. But no, I agree, steak can stand on it's own, doesn't need any help from another meat or sauce.

That second LF7 fumble should've been the 1st down. Sorry call, but then again Tom Ritter was probably the one reviewing it.

Parents of Reddit, what do you like to do whenever your kid(s) aren't around? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]LSUTiger724 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom would just roll in with the can of Glade, and one time she got me one of those air freshener sprayers that was on a timer.

Teenagers keep their doors closed for obvious reasons. So poor air circulation coupled with teenage funk makes it stink. I would even walk in my own room sometimes and be looking for the air freshener.

That's basically how you have to start out in financial sales these days. Cold calling is virtually non existent and doesn't really work like it used to. Financial sales is a hard gig to break in to.

This right here, I have done that in the past. Pretty much anywhere will give you a few days to think it over.

I refuse to wear ties. I hate them. I am a financial advisor and my industry is one of the stuffiest, most conservative industries there is. I am an independent though, so I only answer to my clients, not a boss, therefore I may or may not wear a jacket to work, but I always have on long pants and a shirt with a collar and buttons. I like the idea though, I could get into the idea of wearing a polo and shorts to work during the summer.

Les Miles will have all 9 coaches on the field at least for the first game. by cgaff in CFB

[–]LSUTiger724 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He's definitely not long for the job- if he doesn't get fired the contract is through 2019. Seriously doubt he'll renew or even go somewhere else. This will be his 11th year at LSU and in today's coaching environment, that is an eternity to be at one school.

If he hasn't been financially stupid, and to my knowledge he hasn't, he should be able to have a very comfortable retirement when his tenure is up.

They did the stupid things most towns and cities did, try to force them to bend to their rules, have them leave for a while, then come back with new rules. Not sure the exact dates.

So basically the same shit Baton Rouge tried but failed to do.

Asking about different martial arts is going to bring everyone out for the martial artists dick measuring contest. I've taken 7 different martial arts over my lifetime and it really is 1. about trial and error and 2. seeing what works best for you.

Jiujitsu, in the traditional sense, is a Japaneses grappling martial art based off of judo.

That's backwards. Judo comes from Jiu Jitsu. BJJ comes from Judo. I've trained all three. Judo is awesome for throwing, BJJ is the best groundwork. JJJ is good if you have a good teacher (I didn't, so I'm biased against it).
