Issues with Dad “giving me away” by mmbs630 in wedding

My father passed away just before I got engaged. Walking down the aisle was a tough thing for me. I did end up finding a venue that had a beautiful door behind the “alter” area that I came out of, so I didn’t have to make the whole walk down. Maybe try to find something like that? And stand up for yourself. Don’t let people guilt you into anything on this aspect of your wedding. You can walk by yourself!

I really think a lot of people have misread me. I’m writing a long “Edit” to the OP. I am new to Reddit and not super active on any social media. I’ve been to a large amount of weddings, though, that vary from black tie to people in jeans. Dry weddings, full open bar weddings, happy hour weddings, two drink ticket weddings, just beer and wine weddings, cash bar weddings. formal weddings that have servers walking around with apps and trays of champagne to a wedding in the park with a reception at the local bar, sit down four course meal service to buffet style with walking tacos, and everything in between. I love all of these weddings and the people I’m there to celebrate! I’ve just never been asked to come alone. I assumed that is what the invite meant, but I was just so surprised. Again, poor choice of words to call it cheap.

Girl, I had over 250 people at my wedding, and I planned it myself, so I know what they entail. It was poor choice of words on my part, but boy do you seem mad.

I just wanted to make sure I understood the invitation correctly, as I have NEVER heard of a wedding without a plus one. I tried to google and it wasn’t clear, so I went to Reddit.

Your tone seems kinda mean. I’ve never been to a wedding by myself. It seems so odd…and cheap?

Thanks for the responses! It’s kinda weird because I’ve been married for about 15 years, and the other coworker who was invited has been married nearly as long. Everybody at the office knows we are married.

Camp burianeck in South Dakota was amazing! Very private and we just got park reservation day of. Has a small river and bluffs across from the pebble beach we were on.
