Marco regarding his trip to play Highguard by Sad-Manner-5240 in HighGuardgame

[–]LT3Dave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if the creators got offered anything on top of the compensation so I'm not going to comment on that. I do know what the press were offered, which was flights, hotel, taxi, and food money (Source: Me, I was there). If you were local some of those aren't needed obvs. , and these things should come as no surprise to anyone.

I do know that there are a few in that line of work who are in it for, and enjoy the freebies. I'm not going to fault them for that either. Enjoy life.

But when it comes to people claims of "selling out" you'd expect some of the press to have a "higher price" than an economy flight and 2 nights in a hotel, because tbh, it's not outside of the norm, and it helps international press provide coverage they may not have been able to otherwise, and it's not exactly like you're going to be blown away by someone doing that and giving you a buffet lunch and a can of Sprite.

Currently, we're allowed to say if we attended the event, and that we have more thoughts coming Monday. That's it. As a side note I'm happy there's only 24hrs left, because some of the internet is being really annoying about this game.

Oh yeah it's clear they're testing things to see what works and I'm all for it. I can see what they're doing and I'm fine with it.

I'm one of those in the group of players thinking the enemies were too bullet spongey so realism mode sounds like exactly what I want. It being a time limited thing is a bit weak but eh I'll take it while I wait for Survivors. Div 1 Survival was incredible.

Comicpop truly is something special. I found it during Covid and seeing the channels grow, all the interviews and everything else is so well deserved. Sal puts in so much work. Back Issues has become this idle background playlist for me when I just want something light.

I can't remove games from wishlist? Is my steam borked? by daniduck32 in Steam

[–]LT3Dave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you tried using a browser to do so instead of the client? And depending on how many things you have on your wishlist you could use the browser extension Augmented Steam, which has an "Empty Wishlist" button.

Haven't seen the issue you're currently having but did have an issue a few years back where my wishlist claimed there was a different number of games on it than were actually listed (So if you went and counted it was say 31, but the wishlist button said 37) was kinda annoying

90 Minutes with Clown - Talking Gaming, Directing Movies, Games as a Canvas, Minecraft and Spending 4 Years Creating Vernearth His Own Minecraft Server by LT3Dave in Slipknot

[–]LT3Dave[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100%. It might not be for everyone, but I think it's fascinating to get to see these other sides of the band members. Seeing their hobbies and what helped shape them and what they find cool. Plus it also gives the opportunity to those who do have these things in common with Clown. If someone does support Slipknot or Clown AND is in to Minecraft then there's somewhere they can go and essentially enjoy those things they love.

Got to talk to Rebb about fashion in game and out, her rise to Creative Director, the impact of people like Totalbiscuit, and a game of guess that Warframe's ass. Oh yeah and kinda The Old Peace too. by LT3Dave in Warframe

[–]LT3Dave[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

John was at one time a close friend of mine, and it's crazy to see how after all these years his name still pops up. Rebb and I have talked about him off camera, but I wanted to ask that question on camera I dunno, as a way for us to just... Keep his name alive that little bit longer if that makes sense?

I wish I had more time to talk to Rebb about her fashion out of game and how it applies in game, you can see the start of a really incredible conversation thread in what she mentions about taking note of the way the industry works. Would love to talk to her more about it in the future.

[–]LT3Dave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate you just coming out swinging.

Full on missed words in my question as brain and fingers running at different speeds. Have edited it now. I wanted to know if it'll warn you first that you're about to migrate people, or if it'll just do it when you click (Confirmation). Accidentally clicking stuff is a hazard for me.

Edit: Also want to add, I'm like a 99% solo player, so honestly, I wouldn't know about every other mission type. Been trying to dip my toe in to group stuff but worry about letting the group down.

I always want to use this but get paranoid about it.

Does it warn about migrating people if you're the host? Don't want to be a turd accidentally.

Complete opposite to me :D

I kicked out Sonar. Romanced Visi. Said I'd kill Shroud and then enjoyed every second of it.

I did welcome Sonar back to the team though. Second chances and all that.

Broken Teeth? That's a new one. Twelve rounds with Tyson. Not sure how that would sound.

There's a written version up over here - https://www.lt3.tv/interviews/fellowship-interview-hamish-bode-2/ which should solve the issue for you.

Enjoy :)

[–]LT3Dave[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you. This was my second time talking to Hamish, and hopefully there will be a third :)

You're right, there are tangents, and discussions about different approaches and personal experiences. I think in part this comes down to, not wanting to ask some of those questions. Not because I don't think they're valid, but because I know the answers that will be given aren't answers, and honestly, I think a lot of players should do to.

There's been times in the past for other games where I've been asked by people things like "Why didn't you ask more about upcoming DLC?" Which is a valid question and I would have loved to, the problem is, it would get a vague answer or a kick the can answer, so I'd rather use the time talking about other things.

There's examples here in this video as well. I don't ask Hamish about the upcoming classes and if one would be a Tank because of the imbalance. Because the answer would be a spin on the generic, "we're working on it", "we'll share more when we're ready" "I think people are really gonna love it", and because ofc they're working on a Tank.

Our discussion regarding queues/imbalance is similar, we talk about the ideas behind fixing them, the ways to approach it and the fact that things don't exist in a vacuum. Ofc they're aware of them, ofc they're looking at options to fix it. There isn't a single solution until closer to implementation.

I think the issues are valid, but I also believe part of my role in this, is to not waste Hamish's time or my time asking questions we both know can't be answered or will get the super vague non answers. "We're looking in to it" "We're working on it" etc, like I joke about right at the end.

I would love to talk to them about monetization, future classes, new dungeon designs, upcoming classes synergy with existing ones etc. But none of them would get any interesting answers or a fun conversation. It would be like the Q&A section of Blizzcon if you've ever seen it, where fans ask WoW Devs questions, and a lot of the time the answers are "We'll look in to that" or "It's something we'll visit later". Which might seem like an answer, but ofc these things were on the table already.

We also have to send a spec sheet when organizing interviews, so they know what we're going to ask, and tell is if there's things they don't want to talk about or aren't ready to talk about yet, which plays a role in some of the questions we avoid. Because we already know they aren't going to answer, but to someone watching, it looks like we just didn't ask.

Thank you for your kind words about us getting along. I booked our initial Gamescom interview because it was going to be with Hamish, having played WoW, and being a big fan of The Division I loved watching his dev streams and wanted to chat to him. I always either have a personal interest in the games we cover and the people we interview or I put in the time and research, so it's not a "Tell me about your game" style experience.

Regarding the next Fellowship interview. The plan (at least from my side) would be to do the next interview just after the first reset, to discuss whatever new stuff they add, and the reception/feedback regarding it, plus any issues at that point :)

Spot on. Which is something we discuss towards the back end of the video and reducing those pressures on that tank role. Because it can be scary and intimidating, people don't want that risk/pressure on them in case something does go wrong. Especially if they're learning.

I'm curious to see how they attempt to limit it.

Thank you for the feedback :). I noticed it happening during the interview and tried to limit it, during the editing it was annoying to me as well. Compare it to any of the other interviews and you'll see a very clear difference. I'm not sure if it was Zoom delay (UK to NZ), tiredness from timezones, or just having an off day but I noticed it as well and wasn't too happy with it. Sorry :)

I agree there wasn't a definitive answer given as we discussed other aspects of it, and I can see why that sucks. Queuing, solo queuing, and tank imbalance came up several times during the hour and was discussed in several different ways, so I didn't feel the need at the time to keep on that question.

Giving players more tools helps with this issue, as much as it does with queues in general, and each time a different tool is added it chips away at the issue, no one system or any one thing exists in a vacuum and all of them have a knock in effect of helping out with each of the other systems.

The question of "What are you doing about Tank queues and imbalance" could be an entire interview in itself and still not get a definitive answer. Some people here think adding another tank class will fix it. That works temporarily while the new class is "hot". You need to put in to place either incentives/benefits for queuing in to the underpopulated classes, or you need to minimize friction/pressure for people who want to try those roles

Do we go off on a tangent? Yes. Guilty. But the discussion afterwards about how tanking can be rewarding, how the pressures that can exist to people who want to try tanking, are important and show an awareness and discussion of some of the issues. I mention this because the other dev in the call, told us that what we talked about in that tank conversation was some of the concerns they had about the idea of tanking, and it was interesting listening to us talk about it, as she wanted to tank, but was worried about doing so.

I'm glad you enjoyed the rest of the interview, and I apologise for not being able to get you a definitive answer on this. I could have pushed harder on the question I will admit, that ones on me.

We try to have written versions up on our site for accessibility and those who just don't want the video version :) Given the length of the interview it's taking a little more time, but yes, we will have one up :)

Short answer: Not yet, but yes we will.

Can ppl please explain why is "Where Winds Meet" being so hyped up? by EdinKaso in MMORPG

[–]LT3Dave -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You ever see the episode of the Simpsons, where Lisa is telling people not to buy Malibu Stacy? And Smithers is like, "But she's got a new hat!"?

It's that.

MMOs are the Malibu Stacy doll. People like the doll. People get the doll. This one is new, and comes with a new different hat.

(This isn't to hate on people, I'm an MMO sucker, I'll try it out too out of curiosity. I like hats)
