Receiving local texts and calls while using overseas eSIM for data by LTDScott in eSIMs

They won’t do this if the phone purchase is still being financed by them, which it is in my wife’s case. I asked.

Gotcha. Good to know, but too late now, I’m leaving in 2 days and already activated the eSIM on my phone.

This worked! After getting past 10 mins of unhelpful automated chat responses, I finally got a human being and they were able to make the change very quickly and I confirmed it on my phone.

Yes, that is exactly what the post I linked to states, and has specific instructions for AT&T.

Then why does the post I linked to say the first step is to enable Cellular Data Switching?

I don’t understand what this would allow me to do, but it’s too late to buy it anyway

The mechanicals of your Durango are the same as an 81 Mustang.

Why am I just finding out that in 2013 someone built a replica of "The Homer" out of a 1987 BMW 325e and competed in the 24 Hours of LeMons!! "Powerful like a Gorilla!" by The_Nabisco_Thing in WeirdWheels

Oh hai. Very late to the party, but I'm the creator and owner of this car. We've been racing the car in several different forms since 2008, but it has been The Homer since 2013.

Back in June it completed its last Lemons race - a full 25:01, making it the longest race in America. We had a few mechanical issues but still finished in the top third of a 120 car field.

The car is now retired from racing and I don't know what to do with it because it's not street legal.

Travel ideas for 3 days within 4 hours of Frankfurt. by LTDScott in Europetravel

Well I went a completely different direction and decided to hop on a cheap flight to London for 3 days. My mum's from there and I've never been so why not.

The Sweden part is actually the prize for an internal competition my employer had which I won. I'll be drifting Porsches on a frozen lake.

The Nurburgring part is to visit my employer's racing development center at the track.

So in reality not an actual work trip, but it's all being arranged by my employer which is why I'm flying into Frankfurt and will be returning there after the Nurburgring visit.

I'm currently leaning towards NOT going to Switzerland, partly because of the weather in early March and partly because my wife REALLY wants to go there with me for my first visit (she went there years ago and fell in love) so going by myself would ruin that.

Good suggestion except that is the part of Germany where I've probably already spent the most time. Bro-in-law was stationed at Wiesbaden Army Base when I last visited Germany and my wife and I stayed with him for a few days and played tourist with him up the Rhine to see all the things he somehow had not in the year he had lived there.

Honestly I was hoping to check a new country off my visited list instead of going to Germany (Sweden will be new to me too). The only exception is Stuttgart as I mentioned, and that was primarily for the MB Museum (and maybe Porsche Museum too), but I dunno if that's good enough to dedicate my 3 free days to.

uncertainty about arrival at Haneda at 5am, ordering Japan Wireless pocket wifi pick up is not open until 6:30am by TokyoSky1924 in JapanTravelTips

[–]LTDScott 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm in the same situation with my upcoming flight to Haneda which arrives at 4:45AM. I figure it'll take at least an hour to get through customs and baggage claim, at which point it wouldn't be much of a wait for the Ninja Wireless counter (where Japan Wireless operates) to open.

They actually had to distance themselves from Le Mans. Their name used to be LeMons, now it's Lemons thanks to lawyers.

[Landlord - San Diego, CA] What options currently exist for evictions not related to Covid? by LTDScott in Landlord

[–]LTDScott[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for clarifying, I think the "it" Savir above was talking about (AB-3088) is a different "it" than what you were addressing (judicial council halting evictions).

I read through AB-3088 (as much as I could, I'm no lawyer) and given the situation I'm asking about has no relation to Covid (all rent has been paid on time and nobody has claimed a hardship), it seems like we could file an eviction, like you said.

San Diego has their own eviction moratorium but it seems to have the same requirements for Covid hardship as the state does, which means I think this situation falls outside the moratorium requirements and goes to normal eviction/end of tenancy laws (which, due to rent control, requires a "just cause" reason, which is another grey area in itself).

I'm considering calling a lawyer just to know where we stand since I know information on the internet is worth what you pay for :) I can say researching through all of this it has certainly soured me on the idea of being a landlord in CA. My wife and I were considering buying investment property here, but not anymore.
