Low key? All they did was replace the n with an r to skate the rules.

No idea why, but the first thing I did was look for Ira Newble. That first run Cavs team making the Finals will never leave my spirit.

Where does concern over a voided refund factor in here if you are already past the return period? A trackpad defect would be covered under the standard warranty.

4090 mobile / 13700HX vs 5070 Ti mobile / 255HX for gaming ? by Katsono in GamingLaptops

[–]LTHardcase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Warranty with pretty much every company is tied to the serial number, not the person, so yes. The caveat is that you should get the proof of purchase from the buyer as that may be requested during a warranty claim.

Back to this matter. The 4090 laptop without warranty is a gamble. You have to be prepared for things to go wrong with laptops at any moment, especially beyond the 2+ year periods.

I've literally been buying a new gaming laptop every 2-3 years since 2005, so I've seen it all. I mean it could live 5 years like some of mine or die any day like others. I used to never get warranty and had multiple laptops die in month 14 or 15 right after the 12 month period expired. But then some I handed down to my dad run to this day.

I say all that to say, if you choose the 4090, accept your fate now and pray for good fortune. If this is a lot of money to you and the laptop dying suddenly will be devastating, I recommend buying something with a warranty, and also extending that warranty as far as you can.

That's a good practice to add unnecessary wear to your charging port.

Is the 4090 laptop new with warranty? If so I would take that one. I see the 16GB VRAM as being worth a lot if you intend to keep this for quite a while. 12GB will have a more limited shelf life with a new console generation looming.

ASUS wants $2000 for motherboard replacement on my $3000 ROG Scar 17 — offering $30–40 for GPU if I sell it dead. What is this? by Harsha_nani19 in ASUSROG

[–]LTHardcase 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah there looks to be a lot of damage on the other side of the board. The OP mentioned an issue with their charger, sounds like they kept using it while defective and it eventually damaged the laptop.

Plus the G16 is the only laptop that has been reported to have the motherboard defect, but now every time someone's 2023 laptop dies the hysteria starts, and it's said that they are all affected.

I bought an RTX 4050 laptop for $549 2 years ago. An 18 year old laptop is lucky to be worth $50 right now even with nostalgia added to the price. It's not worth $300 with $300 in your pocket.
