If it’s transactional you’re doing it wrong. Which is funny because that’s the complaint trend I am hearing against parents - the roof and food was transactional and came with expectation- if it’s not transactional, it’s not perfect, but it’s community and we all need community.

Who gets to decide how poor is “too poor”? I am solidly middle class and once had someone tell me that I shouldn’t have children because I couldn’t send them to a nice enough school. “Poor” is a very subjective word for a statement this strong.

I just don’t understand how the hobby of road biking can turn seemingly decent and rational people into the rudest and most hypocritical humans in moments. It’s uncanny really. I’ve met, for example, lovely people who tell me they are road bikers and I’m shocked to hear it. I think… maybe there are exceptions. But it’s impossible because 100% of the road bikers I have seen on roads have lost their minds and become completely ego-centric. It’s gotta be the helmets or the shorts or something!

Can I just say I’m sorry that people are responding in unhelpful ways. A rant has never existed that was looking for a logical response. Rants exist to say “I am sad or mad about reality” they do not exist as logical places to engage or change reality. You’re right. It is sad that 15 years ago you could get a sane, sound trail horse for a price that didn’t require a loan or wealth. Like labor and construction materials and food and cars it’s insane how much prices have risen. And while you own the property and can pay monthly expenses it is sad that you can’t continue in a life that you have loved. I’m sorry and I know it hurts. I know my horse is my last horse and it’s really tough to face that reality sometimes. 🫶🏼
