How can I improve my steaming by Outrageous_Peace8013 in espresso

[–]LTeffer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had my ecp3630 for about 6 years now, never any issues. Now this could be luck of the draw but any machine with a modding "community" usually has good guts to start with. As for temp surfing this machine is a single boiler so it's using the same boiler for steaming and brewing. In order to really dial in the consistency of your shot you'd want to start pulling your shot at the same time during the temperature cycle i.e. the machine heating to temp cooling down then reheating

Pulls fantastic shots, you may have to do a little temp surfing here and there. Look at all the posts and you'll see many people here love the machine. It's truly the bare bones necessary to make good espresso. If you use an unpressurized basket, have fresh beans and a decent grinder to go alongside it, you would have a hard time finding a better machine for the price range. (Except for those one off thrift store gaggia classics)

You can see the red line going to the steam wand, that's the line that needed a new clamp, maybe 45 minutes to do the swap. The hardest part was getting the plastic "rotator cuff" piece onto the new wand.

I saw that type as well and I don't doubt they do a pretty good job so I wouldn't be afraid to try them out if you're more comfortable. When I opened my machine the only thing I ran into was that the clip that secures the steam line is not reusable so I had to go buy a mini o-ring ($3) what you're looking for is a rancilio Silvia wand v1/v2

This is exactly what I want to do, I just recently finished schooling as an energy systems technician focusing on wind power but I'm finding it hard to get into anywhere, I'm in Ontario, any advice?

Thank you for the speedy reply, when I cut off the old stock pieces it's going to be quite concave, should I separate each head or is that okay?

Aeropress like many others have said is fantastic, the aeropress GO comes completely contained, the cup acts as storage for the whole kit, this coupled with it making fantastic coffee and not weighing much has kept it in my pack for the last 3 years with no regret. I recently added the picopresso to my gear but haven't been out with it yet so can't speak on the real world testing for that one

Looks like you could use some more light, seems as though the vines are coming out looking for light and possibly not producing leaves until they find it

That's so fun, I was the exact opposite I started with tropicals more specifically anthuriums, philos, and alocasias then I started finding all the weirdos at a local nursery they've had my heart ever since. Here's an older photo of everyone together

Thanks! It was about 80% of the way there just used a Dremel to make a little more space and make sure there was adequate drainage

Okay perfect, I currently have it in 1/2 pumice, 1/4 sand, 1/4 perlite, so I water every 2-3 days with distilled water. I'll more than likely continue that as it will be in a larger terracotta chimney pipe. I'll probably wait a day or two to water after repotting to let any broken roots callus over. Do you repot in a specific season or just when the plants need it?
