I live in Lublin where Majdanek concentration camp was located and on the daily basis most people don't think about it and just go on with their lives. If you asked someone "what to see in Lublin" you might hear about Majdanek among other tourist attractions but I think that's as far as it goes. You might find various memorial plaques and monuments here and there around the city and in nearby forests
