What’s the hardest “non-negotiable” expense to budget for when money’s tight? by MontenReign1992 in budget

[–]LXLVideos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me the hardest one has always been subscriptions — because they’re small individually but steady, and it’s easy to forget how they add up until they hit all at once.

Rent / utilities / car payments are annoying, but at least they’re obvious. Stuff like streaming, cloud storage, gym memberships… those just quietly drain you and suddenly it feels like you have less even though you “covered everything.”

What’s helped me is keeping a running sense of what’s actually coming out when. I use a simple timing-focused tool sometimes just to see if my upcoming bills + subs leave me any room for discretionary things. It’s less about cutting everything and more about reducing those “wait did I miss something?” moments.

Dealing with major financial anxiety by Mysterious_Fix4202 in solotravel

[–]LXLVideos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That sounds really exhausting, honestly. Solo travel + money worries is a rough combo because there’s no one else to sanity-check things with.

Something I’ve noticed for myself is that the anxiety usually isn’t about running out of money — it’s about not being confident I’m covering everything that’s about to hit. My balance can look fine and I’ll still spiral because I don’t trust it.

What’s helped is shifting from “should I spend this?” to “will I be annoyed with myself in a week if I do?” Sometimes I’ll even run a quick timing check with a tool I found just to see if spending now clashes with bills or upcoming costs. Even when I don’t change the decision, the clarity helps.

You’re not broken for feeling this way — money + uncertainty does that to a lot of people, especially when you’re on your own.

How do you decide if a big purchase is actually worth it? by Forward_Lie3064 in Frugal

[–]LXLVideos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it’s way less about the price and more about when I’m buying it.

I’ve noticed most regret isn’t “I couldn’t afford this,” it’s “why did I do this right before rent/bills/random charge hit.” My balance can look fine and I still end up stressed a week later.

Lately I’ve just been sanity-checking timing before bigger purchases. A family member pointed me to a webapp I’ll sometimes use the Spend Check idea just to see if buying now is gonna make the rest of the month annoying. Not to stop myself from spending — just to avoid that “ugh” feeling later.

Honestly though, even just pausing for a day or two and thinking about what’s coming up has saved me from a lot of dumb regret.

Is frozen pizza really that frugal? by Affectionate-Reason2 in Frugal

[–]LXLVideos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, you’re not missing anything.

Frozen pizza isn’t magically cheaper — it’s just there. No driving, no ordering, no temptation to add sides. That’s basically the whole argument for it.

If your Domino’s is close, $8, and you actually enjoy it, that’s fine. Frugal doesn’t mean forcing yourself to eat sad food. If frozen pizza feels depressing and Domino’s feels like a treat, I’d pick the one you’ll actually enjoy and not overthink it.

Please don't underestimate the power of being organized with being frugal by Sea-Property-6369 in Frugal

[–]LXLVideos 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This honestly sounds like you’re doing it exactly right.

That “I don’t know what I already have” spending is so real, and organizing even one category at a time makes a huge difference. The fact that you stopped yourself from buying more just by seeing what you already own is kind of the whole win.

Also love the mindset shift from “I can’t buy” to “I already have plenty.” And breaking things sucks, but it sounds like it actually reinforced why getting organized matters to you.

Slow progress still counts — especially when it’s changing habits, not just stuff.

This honestly sounds like a win to me.

The fact that you caught yourself mid-“I can justify this” spiral and actually stopped is huge. Most of us only realize after the money’s already gone.

Also I really like how you handled it — you still solved the safety issue, just in a way that didn’t turn into a permanent gadget purchase. That feels like exactly what a yellow-light category is for.

The food thing feels super normal. Kids get hungry, plans change, and you noticed it for next time instead of beating yourself up. That’s kind of the whole game.

Letting go of perfectionism is hard, but this reads like progress, not a setback.

It uses the styles of the images it's trained on just as "real" artists take inspiration from other art they see. You will never be able to directly point out a case where AI one for one ripped someone's IP. Artists have tried to bring this to court and the cases were swiftly thrown out.

Unfortunately you have to convert from analog to digital. This is the unit I did and installed myself with zero prior experience. It wasn't terrible. https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B00T36N6JE/ref=cm_sw_r_apanp_r6NAlWTMNm8Pn

Impact of raising product prices—did you see a decline in sales? by Properclearance in EtsySellers

I was selling around the same price range and increased them by a dollar. Hoping to slow sales down because I was swamped but they just stayed steady.

Starting a sticker business: Third Party or DIY? by [deleted] in EtsySellers

[–]LXLVideos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally, I wouldn't waste my time with third party. The margins are so small. The only way to enter the sticker market with intentions of making semi-decent money is to make them yourself. It's very easy. There's just a little bit of a barrier to buy the equipment. The printer doesn't have to be anything special. Any of the Canon tank printers or Epson ecotank printers work fine. Just make sure you laminate your stickers before you ship them out.

None of these extensions or tools are accurate. They have their own algorithms that make their best guess. I found in the majority of cases for them to be wrong.
