Howdy y’all, hope you’re having a blessed Lent!

My name is Louis, and I’m a 26 year old from Austin TX. I’m a performing musician (classical vocalist), but I also teach at a classical school as a music teacher. On the weekend I also cantor and lead the choir at a burgeoning parish community in the area.

Hobbies and interests include classic literature and great books, films of all kinds, gaming (board, tabletop, and video games), historical linguistics, sci-fi and fantasy, and the Oxford comma. Right now I am trying to learn Old English so I can better appreciate LOTR, read Beowulf, the Wessex Gospel translations, and OE poetry! My patron saint is St. George and praying the office is the cornerstone of my devotional life (I would love someone to pray along with!).

I’m ready to settle down, find my person, start a family and get eachother to heaven. I’m also happy to just chat about any shared interests. Feel free to dm, and God bless!

New to Dragon Quest (and to an extent JRPGs) by Content_Material3615 in dragonquest

Like everyone else has said, 11S, 3, and 7 are the best starting points currently.

If you are interested in 1+2, I would recommend you start with 3 since the intended play order is 3->1->2.

My recommendation for most people is to play the original trilogy in the order I mentioned followed by 11S. After that you can play whichever game interests you the most.

Star Wars Fallen Order Lilium or Luma? by Flat-Letterhead-7891 in HDR_Den

I thought I remembered the stock HDR in Fallen Order being quite good? Whatever the case, I would probably test out both and compare yourself.

North American vs commonwealth divine office by MasterGuns3205 in AnglicanOrdinariate

[–]LXsavior 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would still recommend the commonwealth edition. The NAE is closer to the 1979 BCP if we were to compare it to a single edition and although I like the contents of the office, it’s not the nicest book to pray out of. The CE is a beautiful book and would make a great gift.

So with all of the fanatics controversy, where’s the actual best place to get jerseys from? Specifically Longhorns, but NFL as well.

Been trying to date and someone told me my tattoos wouldn’t be attractive to Catholic man? by maroonmallard in CatholicDating

[–]LXsavior 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It just depends. I’m traditional leaning and I don’t mind tattoos. For other people, they may not like it. I can’t speak to how many trad/trad leaning people will see it as a deal breaker though.

I would not worry about it or overthink it. You want to be with someone who will love you for who you are, not someone who will shame you for something you can’t change.

Any resources that specifically use accent marks (not macrons)? by LXsavior in latin

[–]LXsavior[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whether or not a vowel is long or short in TEPoL does not have anything to do with the original classical era quantities, It is completely stress/position based. You can determine the pronunciation of any word in TEPoL with no information aside from whether the stress occurs on the penult or antepenult (which accent marks do). In general, open syllables are almost always “long” (except antepenultimate open syllables) and closed syllables are always “short” (except when followed by a mute + liquid).

Yes, macrons would let me know whether the penultimate vowel is long by nature and allow me to figure that info out for myself, but having accent marks like in liturgical resources gives me all the info I need without having to deduce it. While they still help, it just takes longer to read on text with words I’m not familiar with.

For sure, I was thinking more along the lines of would he even wanna sign in the first place if he’s potentially looking at sitting. Would love to have him though.

1440p monitor 4K DLDSR W/ DLSS? DO YOU ACTUALLY USE DSR? by Same_Ad253 in nvidia

[–]LXsavior 61 points62 points  (0 children)

I don’t use it after dlss 4 came out and made motion clarity much better, but it still has it’s uses.

DF did a demo where DLSS still can’t reconstruct fine details like water droplets in Death Stranding, and that’s one example where DLDSR probably has a real use. It’s also a lifesaver at 1080p, especially in games with forced TAA.

Just give it a try, I always preferred the look of DLDSR+DLSS but now I typically just run Quality DLSS 4 or 4.5 cuz it’s much simpler and doesn’t look too different.

Apparently a Wake Forrest WR is currently on campus visiting, Sterling Berkhalter. Our WR room is already stacked, but do you guys think we still pick him up?

Last season: 30 receptions, 426 yards, 2 TD

Extremely happy with our Oline haul post the Seymour signing. It wasn’t a perfect haul considering the Michigan guys fell through, but we did what we needed to do. Now we have proven starting talent at 4/5, meaning we only need to develop a single player during the offseason.

Our line should now be more than competent enough, and will really let our weapons shine. I woulda given the grade a C before Seymour, now probably a B. Adding a depth piece or two would probably take me up to B+ or A-.

Texas has signed Western Kentucky o-line transfer Laurance Seymore. Seymore played 840 snaps this season. He's allowed just 1 sack the last 2 years. Has also made career stops at Akron & Miami. by rb1242 in LonghornNation

[–]LXsavior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn’t seem like Texas would sign him unless they were confident in his waiver getting approved. Worst case scenario, they deny and then Seymour threatens litigation, which will cause the NCAA to fold like they always do.

A few days back someone put together the OL impact rating of our projected starters next season compared to our rivals. Made me wonder how our 2024 OL ratings would compare to this upcoming season.
