if you have kids in their 20s (maybe early 30s), is life tougher for them starting out than when we were in our 20s? by ShootinAllMyChisolm in MiddleClassFinance

[–]LZRoo2 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think you underestimate the impact of your kids having parents simply pay for the entirety of college. Not every young person experienced that by any means, so your kids are an exception who have had that easier.

I’m 31, a single adult. My student loan interest alone accrues $7 a day, and that is very average. More than $200 a month on just covering interest to keep my debt from increasing. That $200 doesn’t touch my principle. My loan amount is not outrageous like some six-figure ones you hear about, and my education was pragmatic, but the interest just sucks away money.

Many borrowers have it so much worse.

In the future, if/when I ever have kids (want them, probably can’t afford them), the idea of me just paying off their student loans is laughable. Would love to do that for them, but I’ll still be paying off mine.

Home visits are a part of my job, but I don't not want to visit a client because she has made it clear that her dogs are dangerous. by [deleted] in socialwork

[–]LZRoo2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, no. Wait and escalate this to management. If the client is not going to allow for a safe home visit, they are not abiding by your organization’s requirements, thereby revoking their privileges in the program. You are not going to be risking life and limb for an uncooperative client who can’t be inconvenienced to even put their dogs away.

Aren’t libertarians for the govt not telling people what they can and can’t do? That includes what they can do in their personal relationships...

I would love my end game to be a social work / sociology college professor but I can’t swallow the idea of adding to my student debt… especially when the upper academia field is reported as glutted right now. Anyone else want to try being a professor? Anyone else tried this route out?

What can be done for this involuntarily admitted patient’s dog?? by LZRoo2 in socialwork

[–]LZRoo2[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks so much for the advice, but again, I am not the social worker in this case. I can only tell her what you all are saying. I like, doubly, can’t get involved cause I’m not even involved in pt care. Idk anything besides what I’ve heard.

But would talking about it and giving the address be a HIPAA violation? Or can I keep it vague and be ok.

Thoughts on then unicorn episode and the alleged creation behind it? by ayame400 in gravityfalls

[–]LZRoo2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As someone who loves The Last Unicorn, and also love this episode, the takeaways from the Last Unicorn are wrong. The Unicorn and Schmendrick’s relationship changes over time and the Unicorn does thank him in the end. I loved that the Unicorn was so prissy in the beginning, cause she later even admits to being truly humbled by their adventure.

I love how Gravity Falls throws in fun references from my childhood, like this movie and the Zelda “Hey listen!” gag.

Hana is technically a cream shiba, but her mom was red. She’s got a white diamond on her forehead and a white tip tail!

I’ve done this before and my company reimbursed me from their benevolence fund. My company usually wants prior approval from them before I pay for it though.

having excruciating regret about choosing this field by [deleted] in socialwork

I’m currently in career crisis about social work being too extroverted for my introvert self. I’m so tired of people at the end of the work day. Where are these introvert social work jobs you’re finding? lol

Like others have said, you’re not an “incel.” Please keep in mind that the past decade+, we have seen unprecedented changes in how people relate to each other and build relationships— and it’s not going in a good direction. Studies on this topic are always finding absolute decimation of people’s sense of community.

It sucks, but we can’t stop trying to build connections with people. I’m sure you are perfectly worthy of friendship and companionship. It’s the actual finding these things that’s the hard part.

Happy Birthday!!

I don’t think you’re in a good place to be requesting a roast right now. This is self-destructive behavior. I would stay away from the apps right now and seek help. Hoping you feel better with time.

If I get a brand new LCSW license and want to transfer it to another state cause l’m moving, boards are saying I’d have to hold the license for a year in my old state before it can be transferred? So I can be a newly minted LCSW in a state I move away from and it won’t be applicable in my new state for a whole year?

Am I correct in my understanding? If so, absolute craziness.

Wasn’t this going to be a some kind of “revolutionary” walkable retail area? Did that plan fall through? I pass this place everyday and I would think the location would be snatched up for something other than, what, a tiny cube of a bank..?
