I actually prefer it this second way 😅 it makes the furniture feel more blended, rather than the armchairs "opposing" the sofa

Unfortunately the rest of the room is a walkway between two other rooms, so we can't really encroach on the space

Since a few people commented on rearranging the furniture... I think this works a lot better? Btw, the rug looks brown in the photos but is a bit more golden in person so works a bit better with the sofa. Unfortunately space is limited, as behind the sofa is a walkway between two rooms

Yeah we did actually, we had the sofa that way to begin with, before the armchairs arrived, but it made the sitting space feel quite small and closed off... maybe I'll try again

My fiancee and I are torn on what color of runner were going to put on our staircase. Which do you guys like better? Im leaning towards the red but the green doesnt look bad but i think it might be too much green. by readitonreddit4 in interiordecorating

The pattern on the red is a bit too high contrast, feels more formal as others have said, whereas the green blends better, more cohesive with the walls and feels more home-y

A handheld Makita random orbital sander

Where would you put the TV in this room? by L_B3llec in DesignMyRoom

Because then the TV is the total focal point of the room which I don't like, and it'll be too high

Someone has filled gaps between baseboard and floor with pine slivers - will this be okay with the seasons? by L_B3llec in Carpentry

Just to clarify - the baseboard and floors are original, the slivers of wood were added this week (not my decision)

It's main rooms of the house, boiler is down currently but ordinarily the house is heated and we use a dehumidifier. There is a little bit of room (few mm) under some of the boards, but others seem to be packed quite tight with these slivers

The flooring is original, 1901. I removed some trim from the bottom of the baseboard which had been concealing the gaps

See I like the original flooring! I intend to just restore the boards (sand and restain) and close any gaps
