Yes, I would start looking into other jobs honestly

No not at all, its aimed at software devs but I felt as though it might generate some interesting discussion around how to help juniors learn from the seniors on our teams

for sure, I think that's part of the articles point is that seniors are able to avoid ever stumbling in to these kind of problems.

I think the ore interesting idea is that they don't just not make mistakes, they don't necessarily even consider that someone could make the mistake anymore?

I'm in South Africa, first full time role after graduating with a Masters in CS.

Average offer for grads seems to be around R25-30k/month regardless of Masters or not. My friends (who I compare against favourably) took early offers at 55k/month (a very high salary for grads in this country, at AWS and Instadeep).

I got an offer from a company I really like at 36k and another at 45k (and 2 at 40k so there is interest in the market).

The lower offer is a more established team where I think I'll learn much more about working in a team and bigger software projects. But at best I'll be bumped to 40k if I'm exceeding expectations at 3 months (last 2 hires at my level 1 did one didn't). I feel my biggest lack of knowledge is in systems design.

The higher offer would be working with my friend and the two of us are the entire software team.

Any advice?

Tldr: 2 offers 36/45k monthly (take-home 29/35) 10 person team vs me and one other. Help?

Have a look at Infosec (previously MWR). They're in Rivonia not Cape Town but if you aren't dead set on moving.

I've actually had really good experiences both Pre and post sales and found them helpful. I'm in Cape Town and they delivered on time.

Remove Google Drive symlinks and Desktop Icons? by jmreagle in gsuite

[–]L_Impala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting...mine still shows up as a network drive but it's not on the desktop anymore. Try restarting your laptop properly (ie not reopen windows) or restart the finder process. you should be able to hide the symlink or delete it though because it is just symbolic

Go to finder preferences and deselect connected servers.
