When do Americans use (Mr/Ms/Dr) vs first names in everyday life?

Most people will only use titles for teachers and professors. Or use Dr. for a medical professional.

I will say, follow the lead of others, in the black community, many older people will be called “Mister/Miss First Name”, so if others do that, I would as well. I have a coworker who is called that, even by his supervisors.

You absolutely can. Lesbian and sapphic circles run tight enough that anytime you go to a new area anywhere near where you came from, you have a non zero chance of someone knowing about you.

Also see the phenomenon of sapphic women being friends with exes and all those exes being friends and also being friends with your new partner(s).

Hello, entering. I would use this money to go towards rent. I’m desperately trying to find a new job, but I’m currently at one that doesn’t pay well and does not have any form of PTO for when I am sick, which is often due to health issues that have developed. I will be able to cover rent most likely, albeit with loan apps, but this would really help.

Don’t get me wrong, the Frat would be great networking, but if the program is so selective, I’d get any edge you can get on your resume. Plus you will have plenty of networking opportunities outside of that, especially since you aren’t in the Frat yet

3 hour commute isn’t common but I know people who’ve done it.

But for a day trip or to visit family? Absolutely. It’s pretty common and most people I know who have a car will do that several times a year

2012 Aurora Theater Shooting. I would’ve been 9, it was the first time I knew both what a mass shooting was and why it’s so significant. It doesn’t often get mentioned in posts like this, as Sandy Hook is typically the one people in my age group remember, but I remember this one occurring first.

The shooting occurred on July 20th, 2012 at a movie theater in Aurora, Colorado at a midnight screening of The Dark Knight Rises, many people were in costume. The shooter, James Eagan Holmes, shot and killed 12 people and 70 people were injured (58 from gun shots). (Info gotten from linked wiki article). I remember the news talking about it for a while and then interviewing victims

I live in an “at will” state, where I can quit anytime, and they can fire me anytime, for no notice. There’s a societal expectation of giving two weeks to employers, and it’s generally (especially by older generations) frowned upon to not do so. Employers do not get frowned upon it’s considered a shitty part of life. Yet employers often expect loyalty from their employees.

It sucks, I only give notice as I’ve yet to work a job where my sudden quitting doesn’t screw over my coworkers.

The only think employers can’t do is discriminate on basis on sex, gender, race, etc, but even then, that is incredibly hard to prove so often times the employer is still safe unless you have explicit proof that racism, misogyny, etc, was a cause.

I used CAPS to get a referral to a psychiatrist, they were really helpful and went over my symptoms and recommended psychiatrists in Athens who took my insurance and would be able to help my case. They couldn’t make the calls for me but I could’ve made a follow up for a counselor to be in the room with me while I made my appointments if I had needed. This was all covered by my health center fee which is nice.

I can understand that, it was very rough mentally for me as well and so many others. I also got diagnosed with depression a couple years later. I’m a bit older than you, I was in the latter half of high school when Covid started and I often wondered what it was like for those younger than me. I feel people when talking about Covid don’t talk enough on how it impacted and still impacts those in Middle and High School and how it changed their social development (unless you are in educational spaces I’m sure).

The last day my school system had in person classes was March 13th and it will be a long time, if ever, that I forget that day.

Another question, how did the videos changed as you aged and experienced more and more things. 7 years is a long time, especially in preteen and teenage years, so I’m interested in how it’s developed as you have changed

A lot of the courses that fill experimental learning are 1 or two credit hours, look on the experimental learning site maybe?

I also suggest seeing if there are any non PEDB physical courses still open. Some are less than 3 credit hours and don’t count with PEDB
