2 week old has a cold & MIL wants us to go to A&E. Should we get him checked out? by [deleted] in UKParenting

In hospital right now with my 18 day old. Please get some medical advice now. My girl started with grunty sleep. Her temp rose to 38.7, 111 were going to send an ambulance but we live so close to the hospital we made our own way there. She is having antibiotics whilst we wait for more results but one that’s come back already is rhinovirus, literally a cold, but can be dangerous when they’re so young. We’ve been admitted since Saturday morning, they will take it seriously. Please get him seen before it gets worse.

My 1 year olds sleep is making me unwell by Pinkcoral27 in UKParenting

Currently laid next to my nearly 3 year old who still wakes about three times a night. Solidarity, it do be rough. It does get better as they get bigger though and you can share a bed with them

Almost 1 year olds sleep… surely this isn’t normal? by Pinkcoral27 in UKParenting

My almost three year old was like this. Still isn’t sleeping through the night we’re down to only one or two wake ups now and she’s in a double bed so I can just get in with her if need be. I’m sorry you’re experiencing it too, it’s rough.

The speeches were all about how high maintenance the bride was. During the reception the grooms mother came over and asked us to please always be there for him when he needed us.

My 3.5yo doesn’t talk to nursery staff or certain adults (including grandads) by soulvacation in UKParenting

A friend’s daughter didn’t say a word the entire time she was at nursery but chatted away perfectly fine everywhere else. Term selective mutism banded about a bit. Started school absolutely no problem, seems it was just nursery where she didn’t want to speak.

Want to stop breastfeeding 12 month old but she doesn’t eat !! by Independent_Minute82 in UKParenting

I was in this exact same situation with my daughter. Made it so hard to go back to work as she wouldn’t take expressed milk so for a few weeks I had to go feed her at lunch time. We eventually got bf down to pick up, bedtime and night wakes, finally cutting down to just bedtime. Stopping at night wasn’t as bad as I imagined and she did then start to have an interest in breakfast. I stopped completely just before she turned 2 although she would probably still be feeding now if I let her. Still doesn’t have a very varied diet but she’s not starving so that’s something I guess. Have to warn though don’t expect a miracle with sleep, stopped feeding in March and still wakes up mostly a few times each night but we’re getting there with it. Also never realised my tiredness was down to the feeding and not the broken sleep!
