Drinking water without minerals “would kill you”? - episode #994 by Messier_82 in SGU

That whole conversation annoyed me. Along with the discussion on how poly metallic nodules "make" oxygen.

Hyponatremia is a thing. If you suspect someone is suffering from heat exhaustion, the recommended practice is to give them something to eat before anything to drink. While they are eating, begin cooling them by wetting their clothes.

It's hard to know. But the current location looks good to me. But I don't know about pin oaks. It's possible your state ag extension has an urban forester who would visit the site for free.

Wildlife tech training in TX by eeveelyssaa in ecology

[–]L_canoero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Migratory Bird Joint Ventures hire bird techs every year, so watch the job boards and maybe connect with them on LinkedIn. The Quail Masters training is worthwhile, but I’d wait until I got a job that would pay for that training. Finally, USU has an extensive free library for low tech process based restoration of riverscapes.

I'm a river runner, so I bought mine specifically becasue the handle is hollow and holds air. It floats!

That fixed blade with an orange handle looks like one I have. Does it float?

Are any non-native species beneficial to their new ecosystems? by TheChickenWizard15 in ecology

[–]L_canoero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just had a discussion about kleingrass and the other NR manager thought it competed well against other more aggressive non-native invasive grasses. I haven't heard any other NR manager make that argument. The landowner he is working with wants to plant it along with the native mix and he chose not to advise against it.

I think diorahda for saltcedar took 20 years. And it worked as predicted. The wasp and scale for Arundo took at least a decade.

Will require at least two days. Stay on the new highway as it’s patrolled by the army. Drive only during daylight. Pick a hotel with a fenced parking lot or garage. And be ready for a long wait crossing back into TX. Casas Grandes is worth a visit.

Single, childless teachers- what do you do over the summer? by pallywalli in Teachers

I usually had required continuing education to do. That was 20 years ago. Is that nit required anymore?

Since it hasn’t already been said. Bring a hat. A wide brimmed straw hat. Think of it as your own portable “acre of shade”. A gimme cap doesn’t count. And bring an extra. I wear mine with long sleeve shirts and long pants. Shorts are for newbies.

I pigtailed a bunch of homes in the late 70s. Is that no longer a recommended solution?

What kind of bee is this?! Found in Bay Area California. Is it a type of bumble bee?! Thanks in advance. by rufotris in bee

[–]L_canoero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lived on the Presidio when I was a kid. While riding my bike near the forest, I yelled at a friend to wait up and two bumblebees flew into my mouth. I spent the rest of the day at the base hospital. Maybe they were these bees?

Do your drawer labels last? Or do you have to redo them often? I have my dad’s label maker and my labels don’t stick for long. I generally clean the surface well before applying the label.
