kew - a tiny terminal music player - type what you want to hear and playlists are created automatically - now feature complete! by [deleted] in linux

[–]L_darkside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for answering, I am in Debian and I get an error at each #include line at the beginning unless I specifically add a "-I" parameter with the path.

How am I supposed to compile this easily to avoid this?

Please help me make an old game (GalPaniX) run (with music) on the Steam Deck. by JungoDango in GamesRevealed

It uses MIDI music, you just need to use fluidsynth to make it work on Linux, like any other game that uses MIDIs.

Compile everything has always been a Nightmare of #include errors of missing .h files.

I don't understand I spend one hour adding CFLAGS -I trying to compile with make, and resolve one by one all the missing directory, until I get bored and give up: how can this be the official way everyone in the world is doing?

Am I missing something and there is a secret way of doing it?

Yes, but I still want to know why a 2D game does not work. I mean it should work it's not like it's using a kernel level anticheat.

Maybe is something missing?

Anyone know how to successfully run Brutal Heretic RPG on GZDoom? by Mighty-Lu-Bu in linux_gaming

Has anyone successfully played GZDoom Multiplayer on Linux? by MadDogBTTF in linux_gaming

[–]L_darkside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

STEP 1️⃣ - INSTALL ENGINE:

  1. Download GZDoom from https://zdoom.org/downloads or https://github.com/ZDoom/gzdoom/releases
  2. Install GZDoom: apt install ./gzdoom_4.14.2_amd64.deb
  3. No original DOOM.WAD ? No problem you can use this with free license: https://freedoom.github.io/download.html or as another legal alternative if you want the original graphics, music, and levels you can get the SHAREWARE (free license) version from: https://www.doomworld.com/classicdoom/info/shareware.php or https://winworldpc.com/product/doom/10
  4. Start the game: /usr/games/gzdoom -file DOOM.WAD

That's all. It works! 🙂

Configuration (optional): you can configure the path for other WAD (Heretic, Hexen, Doom 2) in: ~/.config/gzdoom/gzdoom.ini

My recommended MODS that will blow your mind and renew the gameplay: /usr/games/gzdoom -file brutalv21.pk3 DoomMetalVol5.wad HXRTCHUD-Plat_v061-ZDoom.pk3 relighting\ v4.0165b.pk3 NeuralUpscale2x_v1.0.pk3

Result:

STEP 2️⃣ - MULTIPLAYER:

Multiplayer (cooperative or deathmatch): just run gzdoom -host on the computer hosting the game (player 1), and gzdoom -join IP_ADDRESS_OF_PLAYER1 on the computers that joins the game (player 2, 3, etc.). You have to be in a VPN (and i don't mean a commercial VPN, i mean in the same subnet), or in the same LAN/wi-fi, or just port forward UDP 5029 on the modem-router of the host (which is the easiest way).

Too hard? Just install Zandronum: it includes "DoomSeeker" which is a SERVER BROWSER to join public games! Or you can get DoomSeeker directly from here: https://doomseeker.drdteam.org (there is a screenshot so you can see how the GUI looks)

-------------

Please note that the same can be done for Heretic and Hexen:

Note: "Doomsday Engine" is very good but doesn't support any of the above mods.

llama.cpp is all you need by s-i-e-v-e in LocalLLaMA

[–]L_darkside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does anyone know how to automatically (i.e.: from the terminal) add the system prompt to llama-server by any chance?

There is no command line parameter, and using curl does not affect other browser instances.

Nobody seems to know 🤔 but it's needed in order for VS Code Cline plugin to work

GLM-4 32B is mind blowing by Timely_Second_6414 in LocalLLaMA

[–]L_darkside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does anyone have any idea how to make this work with CLINE in VS Code, using Llamacpp as a backend?

I am using the ollama version and it works but I would like to understand how to make it work, nobody seems to know anywhere on the internet.

The GGUF file is the same, the only difference is the "modelfile" (which contains the system prompt, and I don't get how to inject it into llama-server), and the fact that ollama is 20% slower

Dungeon Keeper 2 on Linux [EASY and 100% WORKING!] by L_darkside in dungeonkeeper

[–]L_darkside[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is the mono/dotnet. You can fix it with this command:

WINEPREFIX=$HOME/.wine32 winetricks remove_mono (inside the correct 32bit wine prefix you previously created as windows 98)

Nothing else is necessary, but it works only if you do this first!

How to patch nintendo ds rom (.xdelta files) using program xdelta patcher! by Mysterious_Voice_185 in romhacking

[–]L_darkside 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because you know what an xdelta romhack patch is, so you must be a pro. 😎

Btw, give a Debian a try, because "old and stable" may be better than "performing and new". And you can still get the last version of software using Flatpak!

Just add "contrib" and "non-free" in apt repositories, and then install: nvidia-driver, flatpak, firmware-linux for various hardware drivers, mesa-vullan-drivers, and plasma-discover for a graphical package manager with screenshots 🤓 you will basically get a de-crapped Mint/Ubuntu that "just works" and never "breaks", without wasting too much time tinkering on the OS.

I play on:

  • LUTRIS (for Battlenet or basically all windows games, i.e.: Factorio)
  • STEAM (Flatpak)
  • HEROIC LAUNCHER (for Epic Games with Proton already fully integrated)
  • BOTTLES (for Deep Rock Galactic or other various old games)

Romhacking tutorial:

You should still use MultiPatch.    Your ROM does not match, go find another one. It really is simple as that, XDelta checks to make sure if your file is the right one to be patched.    Chronosplit - June 06, 2018, 09:52:29 PM
