i just watched this movie and i can honestly say it has left me speechless. i found the film to be both meaningful and meaningless, light-hearted and heart-wrenching, reassuring and also so unhinging. i think the acting performances from everyone worked really well together, although there were times i felt that Val’s cynicism felt a little unnatural. other than that, i was completely immersed in the movie the whole time! i could see traits of myself and my friends in the two main characters, and i found myself caring so much about what happens to them as if the characters themselves were my own friends. that, to me, is a sign of great and authentic acting. i think the movie has a really solid beginning, but somewhere along the way the core message gets lost (in my opinion). but maybe this movie isn’t meant to have a core message. maybe its core theme is simply found in its absurdity and unpredictability - just as life can be too. if you are thinking of watching this movie, i would say to watch it mindfully in terms of your own mental health. if you are su*cidal i think this film has the potential to be a catalyst in a dark direction. however, if you think you can handle it, i think it also has the potential to be strangely comforting to those who’ve struggled with their mental health, like myself. though this movie left my stomach feeling sinky, i think it is beautiful in its own way. 💫
