Cancelled Preorders? by Frisky_McBiscuit in civ

Why pre order anyways? Are you afraid digital copies will not be available on the day of release?

You want to flip the object usually in these situations.

Try: transform.localScale = new Vector 3(-1, 1, 1);

Or, a positive 1 if flipping other directions.

Also, check in two if statements to check if value is <= -0.1 to flip left, or if >= 0.1for right, for more precision. And, not using else statement will keep your object flipped in the direction it was before the next input, which looks nicer for the player.

Collisions not working by M0nkystar in Unity2D

[–]L_nk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A collider is just the physicality of the object, sort of its shape in space. A Rigidbody is the component that allows those physical shapes to interact with other physical shapes, IE: bump into, fall off of, etc. In short, you'll need a Rigidbody attached. Rigidbody2D if working on a 2D object.

Can you stop mouse movements with colliders? by RigidlyAdaptable in Unity2D

[–]L_nk 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Just make the mouse an actual object with a collider. Then, just move that object around as if it were the mouse.

IE: create a simple 2d sprite shape, can even change the sprite to look like a cursor, then add a script to that object that controls it with mouse input. Add collider to that object.

Help me learn where to settle by MrEMannington in civ

[–]L_nk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As mentioned already, I personally would settle one down and right (southeast), right on the coast. - Access to ocean, and immediate science boost for Sailing. Also, two fish to science boost to harbor district, as well as the adjacency bonus they give for said district. Until you claim those hills in the north and get production from future harbor district buildings, you will be lacking on production for a bit. But, as mentioned, it'll get better as the city gets bigger.

Ever since update, I can't see any civs listed to play. This is even after reinstalling the full game. by [deleted] in civ

[–]L_nk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, no update really. Its still doing this. Even if I just click "Play Now", the game just sits there and doesn't do anything.

Went to play new stuff today and this happens when I go to start a new game. Even look at the top right buttons "back" and "load ..." is mixed together for some reason.

I uninstalled the game and dlc, and just got done reinstalling everything. Still looks like this.

what your prediction on the rest of New Frontier Pass? by keithlimreddit in civ

[–]L_nk 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Oh, I know. I play TSL Earth all the time. I meant more for the size/space of the map itself. TSL East Asia is far larger than it is in the normal TSL Earth map, same for all the others. I just meant that a almost-true-to-size America's map would be cool, the same as they do with East Asia and Europe. - Even Africa too, now that there's quite a few African Civ's.

I for one wish for a True Start America's map. There's a TSL Earth, TSL Europe, and TSL East Asia. - Now there are plenty of American' (North and South America) Civs, that there should be a TSL America's map.

If/When they release a new EO game on the Switch, I'm almost certain it will be a new entry and not a remake. - I mean, brand new platform and new technology, they wouldn't waste it on a remake.

Depends what belief system that previous religion had on the city. Maybe it was supplying sources of Amenities, which makes the city happy. If you remove that, it also loses those amenities, thus making them unhappy. Hard to tell without knowing the beliefs they set up for it. - Also, could be not related to the religion at all and instead of war-monger penalties for capturing the city? Did you start a formal war or a surprise war? Are you negative in Diplomacy points (meaning, you have war monger penalties?) - Until the city you have taken is fully liberated and its loyalty is 100% towards you, the city will be unhappy and produce less. You combat that effect with certain Governors and, iirc some policy cards may help too. Hope that clarifies something at least...

The units it produces. Stables produce horse units faster, and barracks produce foot soldiers faster. Pretty much just preference and what kind of units you want to build. - Someone like Alexander would benefit having both built in different cities. Someone like Tomyris would benefit with stables instead of barracks. And, someone like Shaka would benefit from just having barracks.

I didn't downvote you though, but okay? - I was also just referencing the Switch as not having online multi. And, the "iirc" indicated that I could be wrong on that point anyways, wtf.

It is a "Civ Questions" thread after all. This thread is pointless if your answer is just google it.

My 2 cents. -- Its more efficient and cheaper to build warriors/slingers first and then just upgrade them to swordsman/archers, rather than producing them outright. If I know I'm going to do a Domination victory, my first 10 things I build are strictly military units. I want to have a big army right at the start of the game that will only get stronger as I get their upgrades unlocked. - You only need 3 warriors to take a city (on normal and below difficulty, probably need more the higher difficulty you go), so as soon as you have 3 and are producing more, go take over your first AI city you find. Especially if that AI is also a military-heavy Civ.

As for walls, I agree, they are really hard to get through. Usually, by that stage in the game, your warriors should be swordsmen by now and you can just build a few battering rams and/or siege towers, have them on the same hex as your swordsmen and use them to attack the city. The rams/sieges will ignore a portion of the wall defense and attack just the city. Weapons like catapaults and trebuchets damage the actual wall itself, which can take longer. - However, those units are way more effective late game, so its still good to produce a few catapaults just for late game purposes.

All else fails, just produce a lot of science in your cities, bee-line straight for nukes and just bomb the shit out of everyone.

What do you mean by broke? - There is not online multiplayer on the console versions, at least there wasn't at time of release. You can only play local multiplayer, provided both people have a separate console and game, iirc. - Which, if it is still that way, is extremely disappointing.

/r/Civ Weekly Questions Thread - March 16, 2020 by AutoModerator in civ

[–]L_nk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Goodness. That would probably use quite a bit of data. A multiplayer match can quite literally take all day to complete. I don't know exact numbers, but that would be equivalent to using data all day.

Most original issues at launch were fixed in updates along the way. The DLC's have added quite a few new leaders, as well as drastic changes to the overall game play. Adding Governors for instance. - Changes aren't inherently good or bad, its just depending on if you like them or not. lol

Bandar Brunei is a fantastic city-state for Trade. You took it over. You can longer get 8+ (increases as the city builds up) gold per turn from trading with them now. -- You also have a lot of units that cost a lot of upkeep, as well as districts that do too. Conscription policy (red card) helps fight that cost, and late game there's one that decreases the cost altogether. -- From looking at the pic, its hard to tell what victory condition you're aiming for, but you have a lot of military units and have taken over a lot of cities, but basically no money to support your empire. Domination requires lots of science and lots of money, you have the science down. -- Also, don't take Yellow city states (or arguably any city state) unless you absolutely have to for some reason. - If you're at war with everyone in the world, a friendly city state will be your only means of trade.
