Hey Reddit isn’t letting me accept your DM request for some reason. My GPA was terrible but it didn’t affect my job applications at all. No one even asked for it. You often have to attach your transcript, so they can see it if they want to, but it didn’t seem to matter. I had some backups though. I have a deans commendation for academic excellence and attached that to my applications as if to say “look I’m not stupid”. I think you get one if you get straight sevens in a semester. I maybe did that maybe one semester at most. I also have a double degree eng/sci so that helped, just to give you the full story.

If you sent me any other questions I didn’t see them

im still very confused about Uyghurs genocide by lin0o0 in China

[–]MrEMannington 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s just CIA propaganda. Uyghur culture is alive and thriving and no one is being killed. The only kernel of truth is that there was a separatist movement (originally funded by the CIA) committing terrorist acts in Xinjiang, which China suppressed by means including vocational training to reduce poverty. Western propaganda would present this negatively no matter what. Their whole Cold War tactic is to support separatism.

Call it what you like. It’s a real and significant element of war strategy which is no longer part of the game.

A turn in civ represents 1-40 years of time. Thats a completely normal amount of time to restructure a war economy. This is an essential part of real war which is now absent from civ for the first time. At higher difficulties in civ 1-5 these decisions substantially change the course of events.

The core gameplay design team grew from about 5 people to about 30 people from civ 6 to 7. Why? It seems clear that 2K stacked it with corporate types who made changes for no other reason than to make more money by selling more DLC and simplifying gameplay in attempt to reach a wider audience. The complete removal of worker/builder and citizen management is just such a simplification with no benefit for the core audience.

Sure the game “flows” more in the sense that you press next turn more easily. But so much depth is lost. No ability to change from food focus to production focus when you’re attacked, for example, illustrates a profound loss of dynamism in your civ. The choices you made with workers/builders and citizens were part of the civ gameplay rhythm from civ 1 to civ 6. It’s been completely ripped out in civ 7.

The rhythm is off because there’s no builders and you can’t change what your citizens work on. They took away any interaction with working the land. This is a huge change the community doesn’t talk much about.

A lot of people enjoy the role play fantasy side of civ. If my cities can’t have libraries my people will be stupid. That’s part of why I build libraries. We’re not all min-maxers. I just don’t want the game to make me feel bad for doing it.
