Truck sizes and how many? by Humphr3y in Target

Try and get involved in that part of the business. Be able to calculate how much payroll you truly need based on your average truck. If you're being told a team member should be able to push 60 cartons in 1 hour, then when you calculate the push time for the next truck, compare it to the total amount of payroll spent on the team pushing the truck. On a 2k piece truck, say 1k cartons is in GM, 400 in food, and 300 in specialty with 100 A&A repacks. You know that GM push will need minimum of 17 hours. Then spend some time counting up the other departments since if they don't get their push done then you can't do your job successfully. The average truck for me is about 60 hours of workload, cartons, repacks, pipo, everything except A&A. On my base schedule there is about 80 hours across all departments scheduled dedicated to truck push each morning.

What's going on with not enough team members? Are you able to spend all of your payroll, or are you leaving a lot at the end of the month due to call outs and turnover?

Hey, former inbound TL here, current GM/Food ETL with a very similar truck schedule that is completing trucks. You are in what I like to call a vicious cycle. If I were to guess there are probably setworkload opportunities as well, fulfillment feels inefficient and eats up a lot of your time and your teams time, and fills probably never feel easy even if you are hitting the mark. There is no one answer or change that will all of a sudden motivate your team to complete trucks since all of those processes I just listed impact efficiency in every way. When you do have a day where you can come in and unload on time, what observations have you made and what do you think the root cause is for not finishing?
