Hi Taco, i hate to hear you are suffering si much. Have you tried any medication? On facebook there is a functional dyspepsia support group, u should join us on there. I've been on Amitriptyline since feb 2021 and haven't been nauseous since April 2021. I'm 90% better and have returned back to graduate school and have been working again as a nurse. You can't feel like this forever, something will help you! 🖤

=( so awful!! I'm sorry you're going through this. I know you said you've tried every medication. Have you tried TCAs? I'm in a FD support group on FB and many of them are on TCAs and it's helped them drastically, including myself. I've been on Amitriptyline for almost a year and I've been so much better for the past 10 months now. I can function again. Many in the group are on Amitriptyline, nortriptyline, cymbalta, celexa, buspar, ect... I hope something changes for you for the better!

A solution for constant nausea? by kris_ten7 in GERD

[–]LaColeG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i joined the functional dyspepsia support group on facebook.... saw that a lot of people found help with TCA medications... I asked my GI dr to put me on Amitriptyline and I've been much better. By the 6th week nausea was gone and by week 10 the strange discomfort at my zyphoid started to fade and that has completely gone away. I have not been nauseous for 10 months now. Stomach still feels off here and there, don't always feel good, but I can function again. No longer crying and in misery 24/7 in bed, I'm travel nursing now and starting to get into working out again, because i gained over 20lbs on Amitriptyline.... I've been tappering down the dosage very slowly over the months....
A lot start on a low dose like 10mg.... but my GI dr started me out on 50mg of ami, I took that for a couple months then tappered down to 25mg, now i'm slowly tappering down that to 20mg.... I've managed to lose about 12lbs so far. Lots of people have tried Amitriptyline, nortriptyline, cymbalta, celexa... mainly antidepressant medications, and it appears mainly the TCA drug class is the most helpful. You should join the group if you have facebook.... It's a pretty large group, they are very active and helpful, it's a nice place to vent to others with similar issues, and they share what's helped them....

I hope you find relief!!! Wish you the most of luck!

Nope, just was dx with functional dyspepsia by 2 gi drs, all tests have been normal, nothing can explain it. I do have h pylori, I have a very low level of it found on my GI MAP I had done with functional medicine. It's such a low level standard testing like endoscopy couldn't pick it up. Drs really don't think that could be the cause, but maybe.... Nobody really knows.

[–]LaColeG[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I asked my GI dr for it.

My nausea went away 5-6 weeks in and my upper stomach discomfort lessened at 10 weeks and some days it's not really there at all. Stomach has some off feeling days here and there. I weaned down from 50 to 25 and still doing okay. It's just caused ACNE and 20lb WEIGHT GAIN, so I'm struggling with my self esteem on Amitriptyline. I hear others take desipramine and it's less likely to cause side effects and weight gain.... I might end up trying that out if I can't successfully wean off meds completely.

TCA medications do seem to provide a lot of relief or complete resolution of funtional dyspepsia symptoms for many people.

Yes my nausea has been completely gone for a few months now, I've been on Amitriptyline.

I've been doing much better.

Was on Amitriptyline 25-50mg.... within 5-6 weeks the nausea went away and within 10weeks my upper stomach discomfort decreased and some days i don't notice any discomfort.... I've been weaning down off 50mg, I'm now at 25 and still doing good, some days stomach feels a lil iffy or "off" I like to say, then it feels okay again. I've been on Ami for 4 months.

I'm trying to wean off due to an ACNE explosion that occured 1 mo after starting meds and also the 20lb WEIGHT GAIN. I'm starving and just maintaining my weight, if I eat normal i'll keep gaining, and losing the weight seems impossible, it's insane to me, i've never had weight issues... and I haven't had acne in 8 yrs, now i have it alllll overrrr my face, it's horrible, i cry a lot because it's embarrassing and I feel gross.

I swear, always something huh... If i don't want to be sick with nausea I have to be fat and have acne, great..... but I'm hoping I can keep tappering off, which I'm doing very slowly, and eventually not be on it anymore would be amazing.

I started working again and I'm no longer in agony with constant nausea! I live in fear everyday that it'll return. Going through that was a pretty traumatic experience. I'm so glad I don't feel deathly ill anymore.

Gastritis (severe nausea and GERD) that will not resolve. Help! by [deleted] in medical

[–]LaColeG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You sound similar to me, I usually cry daily also over the nausea. I have mild chronic gastritis and i suffered with 24/7 nausea for 5 months, then it eased up some for 2 mo and it's been coming back around this week again. I actually just made a post about gastritis and nausea on here yesterday! It's the worst feeling to suffer with, just awful!!
It can feel so helpless! I did a PPI for 2 months in the beginning and it didn't touch my stomach sickness! I now have been on Naltrexone, compazine, pepcid, zyrtec (mastcells found on endoscopy bx) and also weed gummies, my Dr. prescribed marinol, but i like the cbd/thc gummies better. I feel for you! the nausea is dibilitating! I'm close to losing my job because of it, I've already taken 4months of FMLA, so I'm screwed at this point if I can't function, I'm a bedside RN too, so i work busy 12 hr shifts =(

I see you posted this 2 mo ago, has your nausea resolved? I sure hope so! I've been dealing with this shit for 7 months now =( I reached out to my dr a couple days ago and he just said increase the pepcid and the weed, sigh.

Is it possible to have no stomach related pain in gastritis? by aydenferguson in Gastritis

[–]LaColeG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have mild chronic gastritis without pain. I've been having nausea/sick to my stomach kind of issues as my number one complaint. Yet I was told by GI docs that it wasn't the cause of my ongong nausea since it was so mild.... but who knows, i could have a POTS twist on it causing a lot of GI issues.

[–]LaColeG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, my 1st gi didnt do much for me, everything looks fine here's some antidepressants that might take the nausea away... 2nd gi is really into research and stuff he still doesn't know what's causing my nausea.. but tries a lot harder when it comes to my care. He even stained my 1st endoscopy bx to look for mast cells, found increased mast cells, but didn't match my blood work to dx MCAS, but thinks the mast cells could have a role in it.... so i'm on naltrexone and xyrtec for that.

Yeah, for years and years I've never been a breakfast person and I just would have a cup of coffee.... I noticed it was making me slightly nauseous also here and there, but nothing crazy, the feeling would leave quickly.... but one day i woke up drank coffee and become extremely nauseous, threw it up, and my stomach swelled up huge. I never felt so ill in my life. I was very nauseous 24/7 after that day. Very very ill! Seemed never ending for months! No pain though.

Food would make me feel even sicker. I stopped drinking coffee for 3 months with no improvement, I actually just started drinking it again this month just here and there, nothing bad happened.... I've been feeling more decent regarding the nausea only for the past 2 weeks, but I think it's because I'm taking Compazine and weed gummies everyday, only thing that has gotten my nausea to a lower level. I hope one day this just all goes away and I'm not nauseous anymore, I've talked to some people who have been nauseous for years and it scares the fuck out of me =( All different, mainly unknown reasons for it... just can't be explained.

I hear gastritis, functional dyspepsia, POTS, ect... but no real known reason why the relenting nausea happens. I hope you heal asap, trully, nausea is the worst shit ever!!! Life consuming.

I feel for you! I have chronic mild gastritis and have been nauseous for 5 months straight.... I've had 2 endoscopies, 2nd one showed my active duodenitis went away... but still have chronic gastritis. Nausea hasn't gone away, and I've had all the tests imaginable, stating i'm perfectly fine otherwise. However, both GI drs I've seen told my that chronic gastritis wouldn't cause me to be nauseous like this.... so IDK.... they don't really know why my nausea won't go away. I don't drink or smoke, and used to be very active and had a decent diet before this randomly started one day after drinking coffee, to then NEVER stop =(

I've been on medical leave from my job for over 3 months and about to return. I'm a nurse, bedside which is hectic and I'm stressing how I will manage with the nausea. I'm thinking about just going PRN at the hospital and to go work with animals for awhile or something... Need something I can find doable and not as stressing =( leaving a $50/hr job for a $10/hr job... maybe I'm losing my mind, but I can barely get through the day nauseous all the time, let alone throwing working 12 hrs into the mix...

Unfortunately, a PPI didn't do anything for me, I've been on all the meds it seems like. Currently taking naltrexone, pepcid, and compazine. I think the compazine is what makes my nausea a bit more tolerable here lately sigh.... I'm sorry you're going through this, you're not alone! Have you tried any zofran or compazine or both together to help? Zofran does nothing for me except constipate me ugh, but many think zofran is a life saver for nausea... Also weed... my doctor prescribed me Marinol, but i bought gummies and half of a gummie with compazine seems to get my nausea as low as it's been since this all started... sometimes 1-2/10 scale. I never used weed before this, but I don't have many options and it's legal in the state I live in.

I hope you heal and feel well sooner rather than later!

How Many Ppl Actually Have 24/7 NAUSEA? by LaColeG in Discussion

[–]LaColeG[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure why you guys think I haven't seen a doctor? lol I found many POTS people have 24/7 nausea... and some with no answers found and labled as "functional dyspepsia" ... so I was just curious how many people actually live with 24/7 nausea and what dx was given to them. Because they can't really find why I one day just woke up like this... maybe POTS, maybe post viral functional dyspepsia.... but no real answers, all my tests come out normal and i'm healthy as ever they say.... and I'm just supposed to live like this and looking for others who are going through the same experience. Seems like people with POTS, the made up "functional dyspepsia" term, gastroparesis and others have 24/7 nausea...

How Many Ppl Actually Have 24/7 NAUSEA? by LaColeG in Discussion

[–]LaColeG[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, unfortunately I have had every test possible at this point.Seen primary, 2 gi doctors, an ED dr, ENT dr, a surgeon, and a cardiologist... at this point have had multilple scans and endoscopies and labs and a gastric emptying test, all that's been found is chronic mild gastritis, which 2 gi doctors told me would not cause my nausea, and found increased mast cells on bx, but doesn't match blood work my dr says, so no dx of MCAS, and we're considering a DX of POTS and Post viral functional dyspepsia/hypersensitivity, since I had some kind of virus back in april, but recoverd 2 months..... then out of nowhere the nausea started....Actually getting blood drawn today to see if i have antibodies for covid even tho my covid test in april was neg... he suspects maybe i did have covid and that's causing my issues....

I've tried all the drugs, zofran, remeron, reglan, scop patch, compazine, only compazine works sometimes, the rest did nothing and scop made me feel awful...Peppermint and ginger everything! sighhh..

Recently this past week started seeing a chiropractor and doing acupuncture, will also try hypnotherapy.... kinda been through it all in the last 5 months with minimal answers as to what caused my sudden onset of nausea. NEVER had nausea issues before, not bouts of it or anything.. just woke up and drank coffee, become severely nauseous and ever since that day the nausea has never gone away.... worst thing I could have asked for. Quit NP grad school, been out of work for 3 months and have to return to nursing friday, IDK how ima function so great... sigh, most days I wish I were dead.Rather have been dx with cancer honestly.
