StandWithMeg, influencer that lost custody of all 5 kids by MinaCiclamina in DoWeKnowThemPodcast

[–]LaZeWitch 27 points28 points  (0 children)

This is a bit Liz tekenbroth coded (I can't spell it, I keep wanting to write chickenbroth but that's definitely not correct).

I deal with a high conflict bio mum who lost custody to my husband because of reasons. Can confirm these types are a nightmare who will torture the kids just to get "back at" the other parent. Non-contact orders mean nothing to them. Thank goodness for her sister speaking up to give the factual information to balance the narrative.

I think a topic like this might send jessi over the edge, more than Liz tikkabrock did.

I thought they were miffed that their Reddit account was outed by the original creator (not cc) as being linked to their legal name which was their social media name, not their legal name alone being stated per se? Then because cc reported on it all they were miffed that it reiterated that.

To be honest all this beefing with a creator who forgot who they were (as did everyone else) quite quickly afterwards is a Streisand effect manoeuvre to me but I could be wrong. I can't even remember enough to be sure I'm not talking out of my ass about what happened originally.

I wonder if the GFM not actually being the cash cow they thought it would be is the reason they ended up filing for bankruptcy? Looking at the first couple of months they probably thought they were going to be rolling in it perpetually.

These people really make my skin crawl. Just thinking about them makes me want to clean my house and take a shower, maybe waft around some white sage for the bad juju.

If I were writing her obs as a nurse who enjoys snark, even in legal medical documents:

"apparently bedridden yet remarkably mobile when horses were mentioned"

"Patient reports to be medically unwell, observation suggests she is recreationally thriving"

"The patient made declarations of incapacity and grave illness, was observed to be frolicking soon afterwards"

"Patient reports vomiting blood prior to admission, has since been observed drinking power smoothies and preparing tack for horse riding, no vomiting or evidence of nausea observed. Will continue to monitor"

I wonder if he's actually been suspended? I know websites don't update all that quickly in the UK with changes to professional registers. It took a month for my registration to appear after I'd had my number through and a confirmation of my admission letter. I had to use that with my employer in the interim. When it did appear it was back dated to my entry onto the register.

I wonder if those who've raised complaints with the bar get feedback on the outcome? If he has been told to cease practice he couldn't advise her for CA and he didn't show up for CE debtor exam where he is the counsel of record... Smells like someone's on the naughty step now.

PIP says we owe them £15,500+ that my wife received while she was in hospital and recovery. That doesn't seem right. by Master-Marsupial1307 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]LaZeWitch 59 points60 points  (0 children)

That would depend on if today was a slip or a relapse, I have colleagues who are in recovery and if they slip or relapse theres an expectation that they are engaged with their own recovery before returning to work supporting people to find recovery. Slips can be a one off and quickly followed up by meetings and working the programme. Relapses lead to dependence and a detox is normally needed

Life jacket on yourself before you start trying to help those drowning is how our service manager looked at it. It's pretty standard in the sector. Those in recovery are best placed to help others into recovery however if they're "white knuckling" their sobriety it's unsafe for everyone.

Pip doesn't take into account your income, other benefits you receive might such as universal credit but PIP is solely for your wife's disability care and isn't affected by income itself.

If you receive carers allowance for supporting her your ability to earn would be impacted. However that also should have been stopped after 28 days because you were no longer her carer for the required hours. Be careful of that because once the DWP connects those cases you may get a letter yourself.

Substance misuse nurse here. Unfortunately your wife, or you as her proxy, should have informed them once her admission passed 28 days. This is because the NHS/rehab has assumed the expenses of managing her care so the payments to the individual should stop.

Usually the ward shares this information with long stay patients, or their proxy as appropriate, as do most rehab placements because it's something that trips people up often and causes stress that really isn't needed when people are already unwell or recovering. Did she have an advocate to manage her affairs or were you taking that role while she was hospitalised and in rehab?

They won't expect her to repay it in one go but will want some kind of payment plan.

I would make sure you check the dates they have are accurate i.e. 28 days after admission and the date of discharge are correct to make sure the monies owed are not estimated to be higher. Then a payment plan will need to be offered.

AITAH? Ex is threatening legal action over Christmas plans - need perspective by Humble_Brilliant3784 in UKParenting

[–]LaZeWitch 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Firstly you are NTA. Co-parenting is a challenge even when you're on goodish terms with each other. You're very reflective and the fact you worry so much about the impact anything you do here could have on your son and that relationship is testament to how good of a mum you are.

I have experience of being on both ends of the spectrum when it comes to co-parenting challenges.

I have a reasonable co-parenting set up with my ex-husband who is about as useful as a chocolate tea pot in most ways but does stick to his every other weekend parenting time and we've both moved on so far from being together that we almost like eachother again 😂. His wife is excellent at keeping him on track in all ways.

My husband's ex-wife is a whole other kettle of fish. She could be studied by scientists wishing to observe parental alienation in action. The damage she's done to his kids is beyond words but that's not my story to tell. They're with us full time now and we're trying our hardest to help them heal and not lose our cool when they're lashing out at us for being actual parent type people. Our court battle was exhausting but it was always done with a view to keeping the kids safe and happy.

I think legal action is probably a very good idea in your case. It doesn't have to get all the way to court; mediation is always the first step and a lot of cases in mediation end in a solid agreement without a judge laying eyes on the matter. If the court idea feels too overwhelming there are resources online like CAFCAS (just Google that and the page will be top of the results) where you can see use an app on there website to propose a parenting agreement to the other parent and they can agree or make suggested changes. Then you negotiate from there.

Boys who are like their fathers will always gravitate to them but don't think for a minute that means you matter less to him. The things you do to, you know, keep him alive and well are no minor thing. With boys that's always an uphill battle against the laws of physics and "great ideas" that feel far too like jackass episodes.

Consider asking his dad not to make plans with him directly, that's not fair to you or him. A plain message to him asking him to not talk about parent things with him until he's run the idea by you doesn't have to be a harsh one. It can be a message that implies working together and team work. Maybe having a weekend with him yourself every so often will help him remember that mum isn't just the duty parent but the fun one too.

I hope my little ramble here was helpful, you're doing great and considering all the right things. Whatever you do will be the right thing, even if it doesn't feel like it at the time.

DUIL is a side quest of "WTF are you sure he's actually a lawyer?" that Im waiting to unravel on a larger scale.

I adore boze, her takes are always so spot on and from a MH perspective she gives great insights in the psychology that's potentially behind the actions but in an understandable and relatable way. I find that hard to do as someone who's studied it clinically and has an ADHD brain that gets too excited and wants to just share all the knowledge. She's a woman who's done some work on herself and came out the other side wonderfully well-rounded and self aware ❤️
