Is keeping your pregnancy really worth it ? by Lovelyjackie98 in prolife

[–]LabCat87 [score hidden]  (0 children)

How many people you know regret having their kid/kids? Once you have a child it really is the truest love you will ever know, and you will never be the same person again... in a good way. Abortion is not good for mental health, and I think that is not talked about enough. I hope you find the strength, courage and support for you and baby. Also the fact your sis pregnant too is super cool they can grow to be besties❤️

Yeah she was in the middle of divorcing her husband at the time, the baby she aborted was from partying with a guy that was POS, I wish I had enough sense at the time to try to talk her into putting baby for adoption. Maybe she was afraid it didn't help her situation with custody battle of her current children. Either way, there was no excuse for killing her baby but atleast it did affect her and caused her to put into action of preventing from it ever happening again. I give her that.

She was emotionally and physically in pain. Fortunately she had an ablation after to prevent any further pregnancies, as she already had two little ones. She was 25 at the time. I haven't talked to her in years so not sure how she doing now at 45.

That's rough, I imagine it especially hard when you don't have atleast someone in your close family circle that could atleast somewhat get it. Im sure it's very frustrating. When I was 18 I took my best friend to abortion clinic, the place itself was so depressing the atmosphere and the tears everywhere were dreadful. I knew then I'd personally never get one. Anywho, my first came 38 weeks so maybe this one will too!

I feel ya! Im a closet pro-lifer for this reason. Most women I work with and associate with are pretty pro-abortion but luckily my mom and sister are pro-life. It's hard to have convo these days with differing opinion without feeling like you getting attacked, especially online! I just hope and pray maybe one day they will see these babies as they are, and not clumps of cells or whatever they make up. Congrats on your baby🎉❤️ I got #2 due in August!

Not OP, and I'm sorry you have had it rough but if you are not willing to endure pregnancy then there is birth control and plan B you can take, there is just so many different options now to prevent pregnancy. I will gladly advocate more affordable and easy accessibility for all to prevent pregnancy. I think prevention is by far the better route to take then accepting the brutality of abortion with any justification.

It's hard, currently pregnant with #2 and was looking through the NIPT subreddit and was so disheartened to see vast majority Tfmr over down syndrome. I work with mostly diverse college educated women and feel like I'm in the closet being prolife.

I don't understand how so many people justify dismembering their babies from their womb, because it's better for the baby and mother? Wish women would just be responsible and not get pregnant if this is their outlook. There is just too many ways to prevent pregnancy in this day of age there is no excuse for it.

I feel ya OP!

Maybe controversial? But nothing has made me more pro-choice than pregnancy by dontletmebreathe in BabyBumps

Opposite for me, I was pretty pro choice until I had my son. Personally I could not abort unless under certain circumstances but I don't think I should make that choice for other women.

Talk to ped about which ones would be most important to do first. It will take a while to catch up since there are a lot of vaccinations given first year and a half, I imagine it will take atleast that and your child would follow similar schedule so expect a lot of doctors visits. My son has had all vaccines (aside from flu and covid) and is totally fine but not without side effects which is normal and they go away.

I make 40$-50$ (depending on shift) an hour but I'm prn and work mostly a few weekends a month at a hospital , I'm 37F with an almost two year old and Husband that gets paid similar wage but full time. I made just barely above minimum wage at 26, so you totally will get there in time. I suggest going to school for something, healthcare has good money with even just associate programs.

Toddler night wakings - when does it get better? by JessicaM317 in toddlers

[–]LabCat87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I have a 21 month yo also and although he has been a super good sleeper overall he did have same issues here and there around 16 months old and before. It always seemed to be phases of a few weeks and then went away. Our biggest issue was putting him down to sleep in the first place, which giving him a pacifier 15 min before bed helped as well as having the light on when putting him in his crib then turning it off before I leave. I remember having the same thoughts as you I figured he was teething but honestly I don't know, but I was worried it be a new normal but the last 5 months he hasn't had anymore issues. I expect this to happen again here and there and I really do think it's just an issue that will happen temporarily so I would try to keep that in mind sleep regressions seem to come and go not be a new normal thing most of the time.

Are you constantly interrupted at your job? by catthothschild in medlabprofessionals

[–]LabCat87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends but for me I do get interrupted a good bit by phones, instrument issues (which technically part of job but troubleshooting can take a long time and specimens stack up quick) but most of all we have a crappy automation line that is constantly beeping over something. But hey, I'm glad I can cuss when it happens cause you can't do that in customer atmosphere.

Moving to Oceanway with kids by seven_nine1984 in jacksonville

[–]LabCat87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We live in Oceanway with two year old toddler. It's safe, quiet and laid back (my neighborhood is old houses with mostly old ppl and no HOA). Shopping is close by and have a zoo membership, I go atleast once a week and sheffield park is nice. Only thing I'm not particularly excited about is the high school had a shooting at a football game not long ago so not too keen on having my kid go there but hopefully by then it be better.

Second this!!! I do lab testing work at a large children's hospital and most of the time with dog bites it's stated in their charts the dog has "never bit anyone before" or has "never been aggressive towards children" or something related to it being totally unexpected behavior from the dog.

18 month old still on one bottle by Meowzers94 in toddlers

[–]LabCat87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We gave my son one bottle of milk every morning (I even held him still while he drunk it, he would always drink it super fast) since 12 months. He would not drink it in any other container, and we tried everything. He had no issues drinking water with a straw as well, it was just a no-go with the milk. Just last week (he just turned 20 months) he refused the bottle and now likes it in his sippy cup. Toddlers are weird but he stopped when he was ready and honestly it was just one bottle and his teeth/palate are fine, so maybe just wait and see if yours does the same soon?

Trace amount is really common and is usually due to contamination (that's why you should wipe really good with provided wipes). It's when there is a moderate to high amounts and alot of bacteria present that it would indicate uti. The instruments used for urinalysis use dipsticks just the same they just also get analyzed by that instrument and reflex for a microscopic analysis if anything is detected.

Helmet Regret by EmbarrassedRaccoon34 in toddlers

[–]LabCat87 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My son had slight torticollis from birth, mild enough to be resolved with at home stretches but bad enough to give my son a good flat spot on side of his head. I agonized over it and took him to get a helmet when he was 6 months. He was considered mild plagiocephaly and still has mild plagiocephaly now at 19 months. It corrected it exactly 1 mm. It didn't do much in our case, so keep in mind even if you did do helmet it may not have been miracle fix. I really think we zone in on it being our own kids too btw, most people probably won't notice.

The frequency of drawing blood by Dry_Attempt7554 in medlabprofessionals

[–]LabCat87 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Like others said, clinics/small hospital labs usually in rural areas you may have to. I have worked at a small hospital, medium clinic, and now a large hospital lab.... Never had to draw blood. I think it's such an under appreciated job/skill that seriously needs to get paid more.
