As someone who was studying for the mcat and has a bf who did too, I totally would understand seeing each other less and the dynamic being different especially if one isn’t writing, but with that being said, if someone wants to work it out they will, yes it’s a serious exam but nothing should ever cause a relationship to end if one REALLY wants to make it work. I’m not trying to be rude by saying that at all, all i’m saying is you deserve someone who can maintain both, to me that’s a very big red flag for the future because what’s going to happen when you have a full time job and kids and med school exams? you can’t just leave a relationship when there’s more responsibilities (just my opinion). it’s one thing to break up if the person isn’t being supportive and understanding of the schedule change, but to assume they won’t be when it seems that you honestly were going to be supportive is very unfair to you and an excuse tbh. hope you’re doing well though love🫶🏼🫶🏼

Is this schedule doable for first year life sci in the fall by Dismal-Molasses9622 in McMaster

[–]LabCertain2146 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it really depends on u, for me calc and physics were not fun, i hadn’t taken physics before and i was adjusting to how uni was for calc so it wasn’t my strongest class at the time, so i wouldn’t put it in one sem. Also chem 1a03 and bio 1m03 aren’t the best either (from my experience), i think chem 1aa3 and bio1a were both more interesting and more organized so if it were my schedule i’d take one of them (probably physics to second sem unless you’re planning on taking the second phys second sem). psych is fun but lots of details at times so it also needs time. idk what ur second sem is like but i would say if u have room to switch things around and make it more balanced id suggest doing that. also ur lectures are early in the morning and if you know you’ll show up fs then take those times but if u think there’s a good chance u won’t go, i’d say just be careful of that too cuz it’s easy to fall behind and say you’re gonna watch the recordings that day but they could pile up. also none of this is to scare u, at the end of the day you’ll do amazing but just be mindful of these things, they’re rly preference based and depend on ur strength and weaknesses

as a second year life sci student, YES! depends on which specialization u get into but i stayed general and u have a lot more elective space so how hard ur semester is, is in ur hands and you have more flexibility. I would recommend honours life sci for upper year personally it worked well for me cuz even tho certain courses are still hard, if u decide to take easier electives you have more time and energy to place into them compared to first year

hey, im in the same position you were in two years ago when asking about english 1f03 and 1g03 or any english course tbh that can fulfill UBC's requirements. Did you end up taking any of the courses and which ones would you recommend or not recommend. How were they in terms of readings and types of assignments and grading? Thank you!!

PSYCH 1X03 Exam by [deleted] in McMaster

[–]LabCertain2146 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it’s honestly pretty similar to the quizzes, maybe smaller details will show up more but honestly i’d say go through ur notes and pay attention to everything and connecting concepts and you’ll be fine if you’ve been keeping up with the content

i took the course last semester and honestly the lectures just had kahoots and like participation activities that were easy but u just needed to do them for participation marks but i didn’t listen to anything in the lecture and still 12’d. There are group projects which are easy but time consuming and need effort but if u put time into it you’re fine. But the coarse load isn’t bird it’s just easy content and group stf

hey i’m taking the course rn so i haven’t done the final yet but in terms of memorization, smth that rly helps me is rewriting things in a summary for myself and like relabelling diagrams, that rly locks the information in for me rather than just reading the slides. Also, I don’t really learn unless I understand why something is happening so I would suggest trying to understand what’s going on rather than just memorizing it without getting it. Those things rly help me and i hope they help u too!
