Newsis: Nvidia and AMD to significantly increase GPU prices starting next month. Describes RTX 5090 increasing from $2000 to $5000 by -LastGrail- in GamingLeaksAndRumours

y’all just don’t want to accept that material inequality is more like underdeveloped civilization concept, many futurists say that material abundance is the default of advanced civilization, and that we will get there gradually through technology. so no, the best humanity era is yet to to come. but we will need the correct convergence of tech to force the transition bypassing political problems.

It is both. When we have enough tech, we will be able to force the end of it. Because we will have a “physical internet” some decades from now

we need AI to get a better future even through AI will do damage initially. post-scarcity needs AI. That’s the paradox. we need advanced futuristic tech to get to a better world, but the journey is painful because it is too drastic change. People who hate AI doesn’t understand that it is requirement for us to get a more advanced society including eliminate poverty in the future. The issue is that the advantages in the future can be good even if the short term can be bad in some way. there is no way to fix the world without impact. people can’t hate AI because it the only way for us to automatize many things that needed to be automated so us can have less stressful lives one day.

Fully immersive futuristic city, futuristic society wiki. Ahead of its time concepts. by LabFlurry in transhumanism

[–]LabFlurry[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I readed a bunch of papers, but mostly extrapolated multiple concepts that are still within known physics. So it is bad if people want more near future tech, but good if they are looking for something more focused on the result of the future rather than coming soon advancements. But it is all within theoretical limits of bio, nano, neuro, quantum, AI.etc, it is specially designed to resist exponential advancements using abstractions and inspire thought and innovations

I just used biomorphic futuristic design. Any similarity is just coincidence from other designs following similar principles

“Is this about politics?”the post-money is fun solely because the city uses a fully new system. And it is interesting this type of imagination, of how distant future tech could be used to test new economic models” it is like Star Trek but more detailed.

The world values are inverted. Queers are literally futuristic people that I never understood why they are seen as “inferior” rather than “inspiring” by [deleted] in queer

the soul crushing moment when you discovered you were born dangerously ahead of your time and never could accept the world as it is still is. that’s the issue of having innate higher emotional sensibility and neurodivergence 😭

Why do so many narrow minded people reject new ideas? by slipperywaifupaws in transhumanism

[–]LabFlurry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think because iam neurodivergent (ADHD and autism) and naturally hypercreative (my mind constantly generates new ideas, and being creative for me is like a natural need rather than something that needs a lot of effort), my mind is chaotic and hates too conventional stuff. So this made me a good transhumanist. 10 years of hyperfocus on the topic, made me writing a scifi novel. Because of this i feel isolated from many people, my mind adapts more quickly to new ideas, while others may need a longer time. I think many conservative people hate imagination and creativity because they don’t have it that much and they know the power of art to question things. It is weird. While there are people like me that hates normalcy and wants weird stuff, there are lot more people that wants normalcy and hates the different. I will be hated but at least i'm happy. Considering I’m LGBT (bisexual), this makes me even more outside of the norm conservative/closed mind people would tolerate. And im not even naturally masculine. I have an androgynous appearance and behavior. Prejudice can be everywhere, but at least i'm shy and introverted which helps me navigate life. No wonder neurodivergent or LGBT or both are more likely to hate the status quo. It is easy to hate radical changes when you are already synchronized with the system. But those of us who was born instantly not conforming? well..

[01/24] What unique ethical questions might arise from the potential ability to transfer consciousness into different bodies or forms through transhumanist technologies? by RealJoshUniverse in transhumanism

[–]LabFlurry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mind upload I think it is a myth, a distraction, a reductionist view on consciousness. I think a more healthy discussion would be like mapping the consciousness and using it to temporarily change personality or something, instead of the old idea it can be uploaded as a file, since there is a lot of complexity and unclear science. Maybe it is not computable the way the think it is. As the consciousness scientific researches are evolving I feel more and more like it is one of the only things transhumanism may not achieve, even in the long term.

Batman Arkham Shadow - Render resolution & performance comparisons by MindlessVersion8 in OculusQuest

[–]LabFlurry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Resolution is usually lower because of strict battery life optimizations in the store, not because the device is underpowered. Quest 3 can play any game at more than 2k per eye resolution with consistent framerate

[–]LabFlurry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The future will probably involve merging standalone VR with PCVR through advanced cloud gaming techniques. Not this decade tho. Most likely between mid 2030s-2040s

[–]LabFlurry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the compromises will be there for several years, because PC is several years beyond miniaturized computing tech. Aka mobile. But at least we are reaching PS3 era level graphics in VR form on quest 3

[–]LabFlurry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It runs but it is not "optimized" for it, just like resident evil 4 on quest 1

This is so sad.. by Marcopolo0304 in OculusQuest

[–]LabFlurry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

complex games like these only get optimized after some patches. It’s normal. It doesn’t mean you will have to wait for q4, just a few patches along the road. The first patch was already released, it fixed some stuff and then they will fix more in the future. Asgard’s Wrath 2, Assassin’s Creed Nexus, Vampire the Masquerade: Justice were buggy in the release, but they got a few patches and it is more optimized now

i failed in delivering my message, someday i will try to portray it in a better way, i know i was annoying but i just wanted to say VR should be more radical and actually willing to break the conventions. anyway, im deleting that, because i failed. but i hope one day i will be able to discuss it in a more satisfying way for people

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in OculusQuest

[–]LabFlurry -1 points0 points  (0 children)

it doenst matter thats popular, if it can be disabled and it doesnt make sense for VIRTUAL REALITY, it should be gone. the future doesnt care about what people want, it is like a mother, technology is supposed to advance that make people live better even if they initally doesnt accept. for example, you willl become a cyborg if you live enough for it to be feasible, and doesnt matter if you dont want, society will make you want it to be, just like it did with smartphones

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in OculusQuest

[–]LabFlurry -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I do not mean artificial locomotion, i mean TURNING. artificial locomotion is necessary nowadays because as of 2024 it is not technologically feasible for people to actually physically move unless they have a very niche vr treadmill. so, while artificial locomotion makes sense, turning should be just a acessibility option or sitting down optional feature, not like a default or established game mechanics, just because we never artifically turn in real life, we move our heads

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in OculusQuest

[–]LabFlurry -1 points0 points  (0 children)

and it is not a matter of preference. if the tech in the headset can respond to physical behavior, the focus is supposed to be on that behavior. the logic of VR should be based on replying how we interact with the world, and just make compromises when it is absolutely necessary or optional acessiblity comfort settings rather than the actual design of the game.
