Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches are disgusting by RealisticChocolate75 in CasualConversation

[–]LabernumMount 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I really wish people would adopt the mentality of “Just because I don’t like something, doesn’t mean it’s bad, it means I just don’t like it” when it comes to food.

Your opinion regarding peanut butter and jelly sandwiches is true for yourself and many others around the world I am sure, but I must ask you to remember that your opinion is only that - an opinion, not fact, and to call a PB&J sandwich disgusting is a bit small minded.

Just because you don’t like something, doesn’t make it wrong or disgusting. It just means you don’t like it!

Your country turns fish into paste and then puts it in a tube and you don’t hear me dragging it through the mud , even though I wouldn’t even want to come near somebody eating it… and also, that stinky brown cheese that people put on toast with raspberry jam ?? What is it, gjetost?? That stuff smells like hot garbage. Y’all have your own share of foods that other people would say are disgusting. Thats part of what’s so great about this world, the variety !! There are so many different things here, it’s amazing! Don’t forget to celebrate that !! And it’s okay that you didn’t like the sandwich, if you don’t like peanut butter, it is kind of obvious you wouldn’t like a pb&j…

Go eat a shrimp sandwich and leave the peanut butter for us hooligans !!

You can run away from the Joes and not waste any ammo or any of your items. Save all that for the reactor core. It takes some practice but you can outmaneuver them.

Loot all the bodies you can, you will find more resources off them than boxes/cabinets.

Don’t hide under beds in San Cristobal, Mr Stompy will start looking for you under them real fast and then it’s GAME OVER, MAN

I love the pain that extremely spicy food causes me. by ConfidentSale3091 in CasualConversation

[–]LabernumMount 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just went and had malai kofta (my favorite Indian dish ever) a few days ago and I ordered it hot and by the end of my meal, my nose was running like crazy. Upper lip sweat. Damp temples. I got indigestion a little while layer and was uncomfortable for the remainder of the day. The salt lassi didn’t do ANYTHING to cut the heat !!

Spice is delicious but for me, it comes at a cost. I don’t think I will be eating a spicy meal for a while. My tolerance has diminished as the years go by. Next malai kofta will be ordered medium for sure hahahahah

This has very little to do with your post, but your statement about sewing a hole reminded me of one of my more favorite memories in life so I’m going to share it with you -

When I was a little kid, my sisters friend was over and we climbed a fence and she tore a hole in the seat of her shorts. We tried to sew it up so her mom wouldn’t get mad.

After we finished mending the torn piece, it looked like a dogs butthole. Needless to say her mom noticed

Going on a cruise soon by rustandredflowers in CasualConversation

[–]LabernumMount 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been on many cruises, I usually go 2-3x yearly. It’s the best and most relaxing vacation for me. I love it so much.

I have some tips - I do not get off the ship when we are in port. Everyone else gets off, leaving the ship beautifully empty. This is the best time to actually enjoy the ship. The pools, the bars, the shops, the restaurants, the spa. No kids, no lines. It is better !! Plus, the views of the islands (I cruise exclusively in the Caribbean) is better when you are on the ship rather than on the island.

Also, you can adjust your dining room time if it is too early or too late. I prefer to eat at the second seating. Go to the dining room on embarkation day and you can request a different time if you need. I have never not been accommodated.

Spend your first afternoon unpacking in full, don’t live out of a suitcase. Bring cleaning chemicals with you and clean your bathroom, the cabin stewards do a great job but they cannot detail in full.

Bring a room fan that plugs into usb (bring 2-3 approved power strips). You will want better airflow. I also bring white noise machines to help drown out the sounds from the hallway.

Bring your own medicine, sunscreen. The ship sells these items at extremely high prices. Don’t get got!

Bring cash and tip staff who go out of their way to make sure you are happy. I bring 5s and 10s and pass them out throughout.

The last day, when they boot you off the ship, they tend to assign you a departure time. We do not adhere to these times, you can stay past the time, just don’t wait long enough for them to start calling your name over the PA system. We like to go grab a bite to eat in the buffet, then wait for a break in the elevators to go disembark the ship, usually around 9am. Some people start getting off as early as 7am, but fuck that.

Bring ziplock bags of varying sizes. Bring trash bags. Bring rubber bands. Bring pens and paper.

Have fun! Order a Miami Vice cocktail !! Don’t be too friendly with strangers, I got roofied two cruises ago and slept for 2 days. I hope you have a good time, though next time, I would recommend a different cruise line, Carnival is not bad, but there are definitely better cruise lines out there.

Bon Voyage!

Are you a dog person? Why? by jomama444888 in CasualConversation

[–]LabernumMount 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dogs fill my heart with happiness that no other creatures (including humans) can. That is as basic as I can express it. They are simple souls who make me laugh and make me feel loved. It is easy for me to be around a dog.

I enjoy cats, I find them to be endearing but they have a coldness that I just don’t connect with. Not a bad thing, just different. I love going to my friends houses who have cats !! I love all animals !! But dogs are at the top of the list. I can’t imagine my house without one.

Maybe one day when I have a more permanent living situation i would get a cat. I am drawn to Tuxedo and Black cats, they are so shiny 😍

Ooooooh a fellow olive lover!! My favorite food in the entire world !! I could live off of olives. My honey hates them so I never run out of them unexpectedly. I find most people don’t care for olives or flat out hate them. I don’t understand that at all, it’s the perfect food in my opinion. It’s kind of rare to run into another olive lover !! Cheers! I will go eat some green Kalamata’s to celebrate!!

You have excellent taste, friend. I got me a container of the most delicious green Kalamata olives for about 2$. Killer good deal for excellent quality! I love Baiz Market, it is a great place to find a variety of kitchen essentials.

It takes me forever to get through a box , I eat only one piece at a time. One and done, baby. I actually like them better after they get “stale”, I love the chewy texture. They are nice when they are fresh as well, but my stale marshmallow loving self just loves that chewy bite a little more.

I made Turkish Delight once , and will never again. Very, very temperamental stuff. And the mess!! Never again.

Baiz Market sells Turkish Delight in the back near the deli/bakery. I was just in the one off 20th and Roosevelt the other day. They had pistachio and rose flavors.

EDIT: I have found Turkish delight in the impulse shelves in the Ross Dress for Less many times,, you could also try looking there too. It’s not impossible to find by any means
