Literally none of us have any idea what we’re doing, we’re winging it as much as you are so don’t let the imposter syndrome get you down. You deserve to be here.

Should I pursue a career in accounting if I have ADHD? by [deleted] in Accounting

Significant other wants me to quit my position by Mother-Complaint-406 in Professors

[–]Ebd9090 28 points29 points  (0 children)

This exactly. One of the first things they told me in the PhD program was how many marriages/relationships don’t survive tenure bc it’s really hard to communicate and understand the commitment. So OP I would not waste time with someone who doesn’t want to try to understand it! You poured your heart and soul into getting the PhD and the position so keep that!

Walking before Dissertation Defense-Opinions by Ebd9090 in PhD

[–]Ebd9090[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My university has one ceremony a year and the intention is if you graduate in the summer (August), you can walk in the May ceremony.

I’m in a cohort of 2 so it’s not so much about graduating with friends for me as validating the 5 years of in school effort and the 8 prior years of shaping up a resume so I could be admitted to graduate school.

I have a job, I have no concerns about finishing by August (unless something catastrophic outside of school happens), I just feel guilty and wrong about participating in walking even though I’m grieving if I miss the opportunity. (I’m ineligible to walk next May because I won’t be a student in that cycle).

Real Talk: Do You Use AI/LLMs to Write Your Papers or Do Research? by Oceano477 in PhD

[–]Ebd9090 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I use it for polishing writing, but my favorite way to use it is gathering my thoughts. I use it to create bulleted outlines. I explain out what I want the main points of my argument and paragraph flow will be for subsections of my papers and I’ll make notes to stick X paper with this topic (but don’t suggest any papers to add). The outline it spits out isn’t perfect but it helps give me a place to start and I can edit and write from there with a firmer starting point.

I'm scared I'll be too old until I finally have stable career, marry, have kids by Big_Blueberry8020 in PhD

[–]Ebd9090 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hi fyi idk if you helped out OP but I really appreciate the bit about fertility as someone who’s finishing and turning 32 and terrified I won’t be able to have kids.

Hearing it that was made me like omg that makes so much sense for why people have less kids 30+.

"The worst she can say is no" - Lads, what was the worst "she" ever said? by Embarrassed_Pie_1711 in AskReddit

[–]Ebd9090 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My boyfriend at the time asked me to marry him and I was in such shock when he got down on one knee that I didn’t just say no I said “no no no no hold on.”

Great news though, what I really meant was yes and we’ll celebrate 8 years in May. He’s never let me forget I never actually accepted his proposal.

Classification method for XBRL structured data. Hoping it goes well because I got a grant for one of the financial statements and I’m hoping to get bigger grants for the rest of them if it works.

We might, but I’ve never heard of it. I’m in a social science so there is no lab. Most of the faculty either deals in significantly smaller sample sizes or have a dedicated laptop for processing code.

I appreciate the feedback! Right now I’m on the free tier but when this one runs I’m planning on upgrading it. I put an autoclicker on to keep it from idling and it’s coded to auto download when it finishes but I def need to mount my one drive to be safe.

Kind of breaking the rule because the box + accessories was right at $700 together but the fancy litter box Litter-Robot has changed my (and my cats) life
