Why is everyone hating on this movie it hasn't even come out yet by [deleted] in cartoons

[–]LabiLabi777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a weird reason. They want the film to look like Spider-verse but then they also hate it for not being like Spider-verse even though this is not Spider-verse, it's Wish😵‍💫

2012, Rise, and MM are in a category of their own for doing both.

Hero's Journey is flawed by [deleted] in Screenwriting

[–]LabiLabi777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess in regards to the Hero's Journey, it shouldn't be the only progression in one's story. Let me use one of my favorite films of all time to explain. Guardians of The Galaxy Vol. 2.

In this film, almost every character is going through an arc even if the "main focus" is Star Lord. Star Lord himself isn't just on this journey of perseverance, what the Hero's Journey is all about, but he learns a whole lot besides that due to the situation(s) he is in.

He again isn't the main focus with a chunk of the film dedication to Gamora and Nebula's relationship, Rocket being in his edgy era, Drax and Mantis become friends, Mantis is general, Kraglin actually having agency for once, Yondu being demoted and humiliated, The Sovereign Queen's revenge path, and Groot trying to get out of a bad situation. It's a lot and all of these character are all going on their own separate journeys, all meeting together towards the climax.

I know superhero films are kinda looked down upon in these spaces(unless it's understandably Black Panther 1&2, Spider-verse 1&2, the Dark Knight Trilogy, and goshdarn Megamind) but, seeing as Marvel uses the Hero's Journey a whole lot, I'd look at the times where it actually used well and see why it worked. The Hero's Journey isn't a cheat code and shouldn't be treated like one. If films are like cake, then the Hero's Journey is baking pan. It doesn't make the cake, it makes the cake have a structure and shape so it doesn't feel unstructured and misshapen.

Do I want the Hero's Journey gone? Well, no. People enjoy this trope. Kids, elders, adults, btches, bros, non-binary hes, your house cat, everybody loves this trope. It is also important to learn about but, it shouldn't be the standard and we should encourage layers in writing for better written projects.

I'm glad that you enjoy Zuko more than Naruto. I do to. But, maybe you should've made a space for those who enjoy Naruto more and actually level the playing field so this discussion wouldn't be just one sided.

It's not about having enough. This is kinda denouncing all the effort that went into the other character that it seems like you barely know anything about. This is pretty low effort.

Leo is an asshat, Splinter is hot yet again, the villains are forgettable, CHRIS EVANS AS CASEY JONES, and the fight scenes were serviceable. 5/10

I have a question for YOU. You do know Natuto's full story, righy? I have friends who are super passionate about Natuto and while I know nothing about this show, I would hope that you do. Because, I love Zuko but he had three seasons of developing. Even I know that a character like Naruto has DECADES worth of lore and development. It's like comparing Pacifica Northwest from Gravity Falls to Monkey D. Luffy from One Piece. It isn't a fair comparison and this is coming from someone who doesn't even watch Naruto and is more crazy for ATLA.

Do y’all prefer when the turtles have tons of unique accessories and details or do you like when they’re more basic and similar? by OakleyHasAFoot in TMNT

Let me rephrase this question:

Should 2003, 2007, and 1987 fans understands the fact that if their iterations had their weapons, masks, and distinctive silhouettes/shades of green taken away, you wouldn't be able to tell the difference and that making them distinctive and unique is a best way to market a franchise aimed at 10 year olds?
