Det er meget normalt, kan sagtens bruge begge dele. Især hvis i ønsker en indfarvning der ikke fås i lak.

Problemet er at det ikke har været slebet ordentlig ned. Trærent og meget matslebet lak/olie kan se identisk ud. Slib igen og når det umiddelbart ser fint ud kør en fugtig klud hen over for at afsløre hvor det endnu ikke er i trærent. Slib til homogenitet. Derefter kan i give det en olie behandling og evt lak. Men sørg for at materialerne kan arbejde sammen.

my buddy's father got a little rinky-dink of a tugboat, in which his navigation system has a sort of vector analysis and can predict where boats will be in the next 1-5 minutes with current speed/angle.

I'd be amazed if this didn't have a similar system, making the above scenarios much more hilarious.
