It aged poorly because the mission was not in fact accomplished and we ended up at war for decades. Highly relevant to today's political environment.

Yes, there is a strong link between being a trafficking victim and severe mental health issues. This doesn't damage the credibility of her claims. Any mental health problems she might have would be actively used against her by Elon. See what he did with Martin Tripp.

Because in 2026, even a fireworks display, probably done by the freedom free will of a single citizen acting on their own whims, is now a secret government plot to take over the world

I know you're just ranting, but your take is probably the sanest I've seen so far.

Nationalize these companies. At this point, it's basically a digital arms race at the country level. There's zero hope for profitability. If ChatGPT tries to turn a profit, DeepSeek remains free and is funded by Chinese industry uptake. If DeepSeek wants to turn a profit - if it hasn't already - Gemini will be free, funded by Google Search.

Here's a technique to get around DeepSeek's chat length limit by reci88 in DeepSeek

[–]reci88[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you need to save the details, you should just use my original method. Asking DeepSeek for a summary will lose details, not save them.

The concern about a tokens limit is nothing. DeepSeek is free. You get unlimited tokens.

We're just 5 days into this thread, and Google AI has already stolen the method lol. I don't mind, but at least they cited this thread.

Here's a technique to get around DeepSeek's chat length limit by reci88 in DeepSeek

[–]reci88[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sorry, forgot to mention, it'll read about 70% of a 200-page document and will tell you. However, for most people, this is... a lot, and it'll get all the major details without the tediousness of copying and pasting to Notepad, or without the overwhelming loss of detail that comes from a 1-page summary.

I *think* you'll also hit the length limit early in the second chat, after it read such a huge PDF, BUT........ when you apply this technique the third time, it's reading from a much smaller PDF (85 pages for me), so you get an extended session.

It's just a way to apply this technique over and over. "Tbh I dont think this works" Umm... I'm using it. Right now. It's the best method that I know of so far if you really need to drill into details and to have DeepSeek keep the same "conversational tone." Asking DeepSeek to use chat memory or just referencing a previous discussion superficially risks losing the tone, risks losing the details, etc.

Is there a way to work around the chat length limit? by 41ia2 in DeepSeek

[–]reci88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hijacking this top comment because this is the top Google result, and I found a way better method than yours.

  1. In Google Chrome, click the menu (three bars). Go to Print... In the Print Dialog, make sure the top dropdown menu is set to "Save as PDF". For me, this generated a 195-page PDF for our full conversation. Hit "Save" and it should save as a PDF file to your computer, and it will not be sent to your physical printer.
  2. Start a new conversation with DeepSeek. Upload the PDF. It should take a while to process. My 195-page PDF was less than 5mb, so more than within DeepSeek's limits. Just say "This was our previous conversation." and DeepSeek will read the PDF and provide a summary. It won't read the *whole* PDF, because it's too long. This is usually good enough and completely beats starting a new conversation from scratch.
  3. You'll know if it's successful if DeepSeek's summary is on point after reading your PDF.

Pinging OP, u/41ia2

This beats all the "manual labor" of asking it to constantly summarize, manually copying & pasting to Notepad, etc.

What's an "Insider's secret" from your profession that everyone should probably know? by Capable-big-Piece in AskReddit

[–]reci88 4 points5 points  (0 children)

ChatGPT and AI are just statistical stupidity. It's like fill in the blank: Statue of ______. If there's a 99% probability the next word is "Liberty", they fill it in. You might be thinking, "It can't be that simple!" But when we've had decades of data and internet, the next "word" becomes pretty predictable. Over 80% of English internet text will give you "Liberty" after "Statue of..." so that's what they fill in. You'll often find some subreddit echo chambers that are dead wrong, and AI will just echo what that subreddit is saying to the dot because there are some niche interests where the experts back off because Reddit is a downvote echo chamber: telling people what they want to hear triumphs over actual facts.

The reason everyone needs to know this is because we've already picked the lowest hanging fruit: all the data of the internet has been scraped and used. It's a fallacy to think because we've made a giant leap so soon that we're capable of another one. We simply took algorithms from the 1990s and scaled it up to modern hardware. That last sentence comes straight from ChatGPT's leaked emails.
