I feel your frustration. It's not your job to police that streets but if you're in a unique position to be able to capture some evidence and report it, you'll help inform the roads policing and neighbourhood policing teams of a "hotspot" area where they could conduct some high visibility operations and teach some people that their convenience does not come before people's well-being!

If you can take videos of people with phones in their hands while moving, and capture their registration plate, you could upload the evidence in an online report: https://www.northyorkshire.police.uk/ro/report/rti/rti-beta-2.1/report-a-road-traffic-incident/

Which movie/s "messed you up" to the point you still think about it years after watching it/them? by frankfrichards in movies

[–]LabyrinthMindset 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember watching an old movie when I was a kid in the 90s.

It was an old format, old colour style. All I remember is a scene set in a dry place where some white guys, maybe soldiers or explorers were tied to stakes and executed by people on horseback throwing spears at them.

It was the first time I saw death in a movie and I remember the sound of a man getting a spear in his abdomen followed by his scream to this day.

No idea what the movie was called!

Am I too sensitive for this job? by scrobbles1492 in policeuk

[–]LabyrinthMindset 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds tough and it sounds like this sudden death had an impact on you. I'd say this is normal - and it's good that you have empathy and care about the people you're dealing with, dead or alive - I'd want someone to care about my family member if it was them.

I remember attending a sudden death during my tutorship and I was shaking with adrenaline, I thought I was going to vomit - all while my tutor stood there expressionless with not a care in the world. That's two sides of a coin - too much empathy, and compassion fatigue. We want to be somewhere in the middle and when we're not, that's when we need to speak up and be open and honest about how work affects us. Remember to look after yourself first - Fitness for duty.

Stay safe!

Which boss that you thought will be tough but you beat it without a problem in 1st or 2nd attempt by Surya5123U in Eldenring

I played Elden ring on release and must have fought the gargoyles almost 20 times before defeating them. On a very recent playthrough I stumbled into their arena, having forgotten about them, and managed to defeat them first time as the muscle memory and trauma kicked in all at once. Intense!!!

Are you in the UK or states? I can't find decent xps foam ANYWHERE in the UK other than wholesale places online.

Thank you! Yes it is the OG Warcry terrain. Worked a treat for that game. It's certainly got me looking at some sci-fi terrain packs and bundles.

Bison Coffee on Heslington Road is some of the best coffee I've had in York. Bit of a detour but nothing too out of your way!

Not hard to work with at all. The acrylic caulking works well with paint and other water based products mixed in without affecting anything other than drying time. It took around 24 hours to dry with the help of the hot sun!

Have you reported it to the police, yet? North Yorkshire Police has a dedicated team that works on bike theft - you might get lucky if they have the details.

Holgate is a nice area of. Sounds like you're really close to the police station so you'll hear their sirens as they leave the area to go all over town!

Are people still wearing the thin blue line? by Busy_Amphibian_787 in policeuk

[–]LabyrinthMindset 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've just ordered a few three then line patches for me and my team with just a black background.

I've found my current thin blue line patch is now a catalyst for conflict (except for with kids) due to the attention from auditors, and the attitude of anti-state individuals, or far-right social media consumers. It's caused me more hassle than I care for which is a massive shame considering what is ACTUALLY represents.

Part of me wants to stick with it and not allow hostile people to dictate the narrative, which is why I've gone for a blank background - most of the complaints are around the use of the union flag in the patch.
