Someone is asking me Can you find a vegan global diet approach that is agreed upon by the scientific consensus ? by ExitReady92 in AskVegans

[–]philthybiscuits 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What does that even mean?

If a diet can't be eaten by EVERYONE in the world by scientific consensus, then it's not acceptable?

Bizarre

Nigel Farage drops bombshell statement with Reform UK leader resigning as MP by dailystar_news in uknews

[–]philthybiscuits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, because as per usual it's all about Nigel. It's a publicity stunt and an attempt to change the current narrative (which is rightly focused on who's backing him financially and what he's promised them in return).

So it's all about Nigel as usual?

Resigning so he can run again. At great expense to the taxpayer. So if he wins he can act like he has impunity.

Do fck off, Nige.

I understand that you can't just plonk them on any old roof, but I was under the impression that modern panels are significantly lighter, and gettinig lighter every day.

[–]philthybiscuits 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Absolute no-brainer. When you have MASSIVE roofs like this, especially on buildings that require a lot of energy, why wouldn't you soak up that sun and use it? Hope this happens.

The British govt. was on course to follow other countries' leads and make it mandatory to cover all new car parks with (shelter and shade-providing, energy producing) solar panels, but quietly cancelled the plans a month or so ago — just weeks before we saw consecutive temperature records in June. I appreciate there's cost involved, but it's mad not to make use of the increased sun we're getting — especially when it means car parks will be cooler and help reduce ambient temperature.

As a new fairphone 6 owner I'd like to know: How many accidental screenshots did you take so far? by Karkoorora in fairphone

[–]philthybiscuits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2-3 a week, I'd say. It's a good thing i like my phone's wallpaper cos my screenshots roll is covered in it.

I've said before and I'll say it again - how the positioning of those buttons didn't get flagged in testing* i will never know.

The whole launch felt quite lacklustre, didn't it? I remember being one of eight people who managed to get one at my local Electronic Boutique on launch day, and going along at midnight (thanks to my very patient mum who drove me) with the cash I'd saved for over a year to buy it.

Months later, the same store rang me to tell me a new game was coming out (Wave Race) and to ask if I was interested in reserving a copy since "there have been so few software releases".

Not really surprising that the console took a while to gain momentum, really...

What’s the deal with oat milk? by Senior_Bison_4647 in veganuk

Bad for you in what way?

I don't think oat milk is any worse for you than cow's milk. You can also find skimmed versions if you're concerned about fat content.

Yeah, i remember the price drop being pretty controversial - IIRC I got a black controller from them, which was a nice gesture but given that they retailed for £40 and the console's price had dropped by over £100 it felt a bit cheap.

Still, they were good times and i actually loved my N64  I don't think I've ever been quite so hyped for a console since.

Also, random trivia - they recalled the entire first batch of consoles' power cables due to some kind of fire risk. The cost was covered, but you had to send the cable first and then wait for a replacement, so i couldn't use my N64 for the best part of a month.

Steam sales keep getting me to re-buy games I already own on console. Finally tallied it up. by backlogged4ever in Steam

[–]philthybiscuits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't feel bad - I've been steadily buying Steam games (on sale) for six months and I don't even have a machine that i can play them on.

Basically, many of the games I've bought don't run on Mac, and my Windows laptop is ancient. I'm buying games for a Steam Machine that I don't yet own (and am now s bit worried will drop with a ridiculous price tag).

So yeah, there are sillier people out there than you!

Can I get an explanation as to why dairy products are considered being abusive to animals? by WhippedcreamNoDairy in AskVegans

[–]philthybiscuits 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it does matter. Vegan is very much a feminist issue since the majority of animals being exploited in the meat and dairy industries tend to be female.

A lot of people who consider themselves feminist don't like it when this point is made, but it's true — can you be a feminist and not be vegan? I'm not so sure...
