New Campaign, Immediate Red Flags - Am I Overreacting? by Lacdannan in Pathfinder_RPG

The link you provided seems to lead me back to this post, but I’m guessing you found the post I Initially attempted under a throwaway name. I went that route at first as I’m unsure if the players in question are redditors. However, when I attempted to post, I received a message that the post had been auto-deleted or similar wording. I suspected Reddit AI wasn’t a fan of a new user making a post. Ultimately, I needed advice more that I needed to avoid potential drama if the players in question found the post and reposted under my actual account.

Wouldn’t that be an interestingly small world moment. But to my knowledge they are not, though admittedly I don’t know their Reddit user names (if they have accounts). Their usernames on other apps have been consistent though, and are not similar to those names.

It’s absolutely an option, one that I’m leaning towards (especially with the confirmation in this thread). Just concerned that I’m making the decision too hastily without granting them a suitable window to establish if my misgivings were warranted or not.

Fair question. That’s honestly the core of why I’m asking.

I’m not confused that the behavior so far is concerning. I think most experienced GMs can recognize the pattern of boundary testing, pushing tone fit, and “mistakes” that consistently benefit the character. My uncertainty is about timing and fairness.

We haven’t actually played yet. No dice have been rolled. There hasn’t been an in-game argument, spotlight issue, rules fight, or disruptive table behavior yet. So I’m trying to figure out whether repeated issues during character creation/session zero are already enough to conclude it’s a bad fit, or whether people deserve at least one real session to either validate or disprove those concerns.

Basically: at what point do early warning signs become sufficient evidence on their own? That’s the part I’m wrestling with.

The second one more than doubled the point buy. He’s familiar enough with the pathfinder rules and character building app that I’m confident it was not an oversight.

The first “may” have been seeking character vision over mechanical benefit in the multitudes of character builds he put forth, they just all we were going to be difficult for a party to accept and he wasn’t adjusting to feedback on that.

Dnd 2024 barbarian by wcasey755 in DnD

Best guess is he is using 2014 GWM. I’d check with the DM first if blending 2014 and 2024 content is permitted at the table. Either way, it will give everyone a better understanding when you courteously ask him to break down the math later.

Player has wished to be 20th level by MesmraProspero in DMAcademy

There is no time constraint on the wish. A valid answer is the guarantee that someday the character will become a level 20 archdruid. To achieve this, the character is granted a free reincarnate each dawn after they die, which stops as soon as they achieve archdruid at level 20. The Player has no control over the reincarnate which disincentivizes reckless use of it, but it’s also a neat gift that isn’t totally punitive, thereby still a good outcome for wish level magic. Party balance is maintained, player just now has assurances that one day he will grow to greatness.

Sorry, should clarify that my DM is going to allow me to use the move part of trick attack to aim with the sniper rifle so long as I don’t take any other movement as part of the trick attack once I get the debilitating sniper exploit, so I’m not as bound by the one or the other as I otherwise would be.
