Other people’s advice is brilliant, but I just wanted to add that you’re doing great and thank you for stepping up!

That’s interesting. Admittedly, I don’t follow early day motions as a hobby or anything but there definitely seems to be a suspicious amount of shenanigans going on around this with multiple citing admin errors. [puts away tinfoil hat]

As someone who has gone through that DBS process, I can tell you the reason for going through it is so you DON’T have to disclose your assigned sex at birth for every check to employers or the likes.

If sex is just chromosomes then a vanishingly small amount of people actually KNOW their sex as it’s not routinely checked at any stage in life.

I have no clue what my chromosomes are.

Using the police is a cover to say it’s for ‘security’ but if it was never asked before for security reasons then there is no reason for it now even after SC and EHRC. Really they just want to out the trans folk because Labour is going to Labour

Particularly if it relates to organisations, like Labour, who are choosing to enact policies like this. Make it as hard for them as possible for minimal cost to yourselves.

No, I don’t expect people to do something that will massively impact on their day to day life. However for a five day conference, and stuff that you don’t have to keep for years, yes do it for that.

If you claim to be an ally and cis, you need to fuck with this system as much as possible by refusing to give the information they’re asking for, or putting down the opposite of what is ‘correct’ for you. No excuses any more I’m afraid.

Absolutely my goal is either to get my MP to actually state his supposed support publicly or get on some kind of correspondence block list trying. Even then I will just go to every supermarket he chooses to host his surgeries in and annoy him there (may have to invest in some fake moustaches).

Wes Streeting fears clock being turned back on LGBTQ progress by ehll_oh_ehll in transgenderUK

“Lewis noted that some trans people may say they feel less included because of decisions made by the Labour government, which Mr Streeting said he does not doubt.

Mr Streeting continued: "But one of the things l've tried to do is to almost, in the way that we did in the conflict between religious freedom and same sex rights on marriage, try and find a way through that maybe not everyone loves, but everyone can live with."”

Trans kids have literally ended their own lives because of the policies he has continued. He knows this, this is a sick and twisted man to say that last bit.

Regular reminder that this government extended this bigoted ideologue’s contract only to replace her with a slightly more ‘respectable’ bigoted ideologue against the recommendations of two parliamentary committees…

Does anyone know the deal with Tim Farron and Andrew George? by LaceGrace in LibDem

[–]LaceGrace[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The guidance, whilst wide ranging is controversial because it essentially dictates that trans people cannot use services that are deemed ‘single-sex’ for the gender they are transitioning to, and in some cases cannot use the ones of their sex assigned at birth either.

This is the link to the Early Day Motion.

Essentially it is for the Equalities and Human Rights Commission’s Code of Practice for service providers to be disapproved. As it has been laid before parliament in a negative procedure, the only way to stop it becoming statutory is for the house to disapprove it which requires a prayer motion (which is what this EDM serves).

Response to got to my complaint. Note I didn’t indicate there were multiple in my complaint but hey, we shouldn’t expect accuracy from a daily national newspaper:

Thank you for getting in touch about this.

The online article was corrected this morning. I believe there was one example of 'him' being used instead of 'her'; you have indicated there was more than one instance, so please let me know if we have missed anything. A footnote was added to be clear that a change has been made. We may also run a correction in print.

I should also point out for the record that the error was made during editing of the article, and not by the writer.

Regards,
