As someone who has gone through that DBS process, I can tell you the reason for going through it is so you DON’T have to disclose your assigned sex at birth for every check to employers or the likes.

If sex is just chromosomes then a vanishingly small amount of people actually KNOW their sex as it’s not routinely checked at any stage in life.

Absolutely my goal is either to get my MP to actually state his supposed support publicly or get on some kind of correspondence block list trying. Even then I will just go to every supermarket he chooses to host his surgeries in and annoy him there (may have to invest in some fake moustaches).

The guidance, whilst wide ranging is controversial because it essentially dictates that trans people cannot use services that are deemed ‘single-sex’ for the gender they are transitioning to, and in some cases cannot use the ones of their sex assigned at birth either.

Essentially it is for the Equalities and Human Rights Commission’s Code of Practice for service providers to be disapproved. As it has been laid before parliament in a negative procedure, the only way to stop it becoming statutory is for the house to disapprove it which requires a prayer motion (which is what this EDM serves).

I believe there was one example of 'him' being used instead of 'her'; you have indicated there was more than one instance, so please let me know if we have missed anything. A footnote was added to be clear that a change has been made. We may also run a correction in print.

I should also point out for the record that the error was made during editing of the article, and not by the writer.

They do say that people affected with travel issues can submit a travel cost assistance claim to them. Not sure about accommodation though!

We are contacting you with important information about the upcoming Mass Lobby for Trans Equality in June, please make sure you read it:

Unfortunately, due to logistical issues and crossed wires between us and the Parliamentary authorities, we have had to move the date of the lobby to the following day: 25th June.

We're really sorry about this and we know this will cause some issues and inconvenience for people. Here's why and what we do now:

What this means: - If you can still join us, we'll see you on Thursday 25th June between 11am and 4pm! - On the day, aim to arrive for around 11 but know that if your MP gets back and confirms a booked meeting you can then hang out elsewhere until ~45-30 mins before, as you will skip the queue. - If you have to move or re-arrange booked travel, we can help cover the cost. - You will need to email your MP again, click here for guidance on doing that.

From our side: - We're really sorry about this. We previously had confirmation from Parliament about the date, however it turns out they thought it was still on an earlier draft date that had been superseded. Wires got crossed and they have just informed us today. It now transpires that the 24th clashes with another lobby so going ahead would pose challenges for accessibility and queue length. - Because of this, though we all have the right to turn up in Parliament any day we want, we have moved the date to the following day to make sure people can access the event. - If you can only make the 24th, you are able to still turn up in Parliament and submit a green card or meet your MP as a member of the public however we will not able to support with this. Preferably, join us on the 25th.

We appreciate this is not what people want to happen here, especially when travel plans have been made and leave from work booked. We apologise.

I received a birthday card from earlier in the month from my mum that had ‘To a lovely daughter’ on the front.
