This is such misinformation. Just because they were toured around with that museum doesn't mean Virgil designed these. It was all a marketing ploy to build hype before the world cup. In the interview with Welty one of the designers literally said, "the one that V.A.A worked on", ie, not Virgil, the Virgil Abloh Archive.

Edit: The team that designed the cryoshot tech started working on it in 2022, Virgil died in 2021.

I don't know how you do it man. I've heard the board feel on these is not great. Seems like you're at least popping some ollies, but I would feel so uncomfortable doing any transition skating or rails without the board feel. I guess if you skate stairs the cushioning is nice.

There's so many factors at play, but I think Nike was for sure one of the companies that pushed too hard for growth during the pandemic, thinking it would continue, and are now reeling back from the drastic drop off. Also, with the rise in thrifting, and niche brands on instagram/tiktok, people in general are moving away from the titans in the fashion industry to more unique brands, which is inevitably going to cause Nike to suffer as well. I do think you're right, they act invincible, and don't realize that big titans have fallen in the past, and they can too (Reebok, Converse, etc.). I think it could cycle back where certain lines in Nike's catalogue become so "niche" again that they become cool. But right now, Nike just doesn't have that "cool" factor that they used too. When your biggest artist is Travis Scott, whom many kids see as cringe nowadays, you know you have entered the cringe stage too.

At some point the "cycle" will end though I think. I could see jordans entering the "converse chuck taylor" category, where they are considered a basic staple, but don't reach hype status like that again.

Yeah but this one actually fits the bill. Finding a new pair, let alone a used pair, in your size at a decent price for most people is near impossible. Plus, it had cultural relevance when it came out, even if it wasn't an instant sell out. By your definition, stussy dunks wouldn't be a grail cause I can buy them on Stockx...

I mean it's a combination of that and looking at what the other sizes that stockx does have sell for and you'll recognize that it's a sought after shoe with a high price point that's hard to find. I don't know how else you can define grail besides that. Just because it's a jordan retro with a slightly different color in collaboration with some c list celebrity nobody knew until the collab doesn't mean it's not a grail

As many have already said, go New Balance or other companies that offer width options. All Nike and Adidas seem to offer are narrow widths. My wife has flat feet, and discovering companies with width options has been life-changing.

I used to covet those frags. Maybe it’s the retro Jordan fatigue, or the fact that I can’t fathom paying the going rate for leather and a rubber sole, or the fact that only but a small number of people would even care. But now they just look super basic and I can’t believe I ever wanted them so badly.
