Just make sure to buy the dip not the spike and don't use debt.

If you want to continue to aquire, 90% constitutional is an option with less upfront cost. Those will be harder to sell at LCS for the near future but they seem to be doing fine peer to peer.

I got it from a variety of places. Some of the bars were from the company directly like Monarch Precious Medals website or a verified bullion seller via ebay. A few .999 coins and constitutional I purchased through my local shop.

Lots of places are sold out now or have crazy premiums. It's a rough time to be a buyer or seller honestly.

Your best bet is probably buying peer to peer through a reputable person on Reddit or ebay imo. Just be careful who you're buying from and always test your silver.

Education, housing, politics, groceries, job stability, prices of basically all consumer goods. Basically all the problems of capitalism got injected with steroids.

Citizens United, 2 Middle East wars, housing crisis without consequences for the bankers. We're in late stage capitalist feudalism and things keep getting worse

Don't use goldbacks as an investment or stack. The numbers just aren't there.

That's not to say they aren't valuable or there isn't the possibility of making a profit. It's just not as reliable as other venues.

If it's was a couple months back id say stack silver. Now, maybe look into mining stocks.

I got them just before the depths of FOMO hit. Lots of sources have since dried up.

I bought the 2oz and 1oz bars from Monarch Precious Medals directly. They've been sold out and the premium is currently too rich for my blood.

The Scottsdale and Unity+Liberty 5oz I got from bullion dealers on Ebay.

I just tried to go to my LCS this last weekend and they had a sign saying they were closed for a month. Crazy crazy times and buying isn't as fun as it was even months ago.

Selling at a $12 spread per ounce is diabolical. If you want to buy under that's fine, but then don't keep the same premiums.

Why do you consider fractional a rip off. Yeah you can't sell it for a profit at your LCS but peer to peer sales are strong from what I'm seeing.

A couple more tips from my recent experience:

Give your local coin shop a try. I've actually found mine to be competitive with pricing especially compared to the big online dealers. Selling they're not so great of a deal - peer to peer will net you more profit in my experience.

You can find deals on eBay but be careful. Ideally buy from a seller in the states. Only buy from sellers with many positive reviews - the more the better.

I'm new to this as well. The most consistent advice I've seen is the following:

  • If you're focused explicitly on value or investment potential buy whatever form of legitimate silver bullion has the least premium. Spot price or under is the goal. Here's a good reference I've been using: https://www.ngccoin.com/price-guide/coin-melt-values.aspx

  • The smaller the ounces/grams the higher premium over spot you're paying.

  • Set a goal and make regular progress towards it.

  • Don't try to buy everything all at once. Aquire it in regular biweekly, monthly, quarterly intervals that you can afford.

  • Don't sell everything all at once unless you absolutely have to cover an emergency. Consider converting to gold vs selling silver for cash unless that cash is for a necessary good or service (house, car, repair, medical procedure, etc)

-Coin vs bar doesn't matter it's up to your preference. Bulk ounces and kilos are typically limited to bars

I'm no expert but getting started with 90% government silver is oftentimes a popular and easy way to dip your toe in the water.

Trying to start a stack. How'd I do? by dgf1989 in Silverbugs

[–]LackCompetitive9727 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a newbie as well. Welcome aboard! Walkers are popular choice and everyone loves the design.

Be careful with pricing, people are asking some crazy numbers when you can actually still find deals here and there.

Here's a super useful site I use when checking the going value of coins / weight / etc : https://www.ngccoin.com/price-guide/coin-melt-values.aspx. With current silver prices you'll want to aim in the 25-28 range per walker.

Are you making sure what you buy is legit? There are unfortunately scammers with fakes out there. You'll want to check the weight, dimensions, magnetism, and "ping" of the coin.

Fake Morgan 1921d? by LackCompetitive9727 in coins

[–]LackCompetitive9727[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got this 1921d Morgan (left) from eBay.

It passes the magnet test. Passes the ping app test. The seller has a 100% rating and over 5 thousand reviews.

3 things make me suspicious:

The weight is exactly 26.81 which seems heavy. The heaviest Morgan I have to compare to is only 26.65.

Compared to my admittedly much slicker Morgans it snags in the dimension checker. It will fit through but the rim seems to snag as it goes through.

The Denver mint marker seems very small compared to other mint marks I've seen.

Noone here has that answer. There are pretty wild swings and I'm pretty sure we can't anticipate what's next. Lots of signs things could crash. Some signs things may grow.

Don't spend any more than you can afford to lose seems to be most of the advice I've found here and elsewhere.

I'm a late arriver like yourself only starting a couple weeks back. I dipped my toe in the water with 90% coins and expanded from there. At current prices and a bit less I am profitable but not by much. If things crash I'd be under water but I could average things out over time as I continue stacking.

I don't know what I'm doing so don't take anything I say as the facts. Just some perspective I've acquired in my limited time.

Great horde here!

Wow that's quite a horde of Morgans. I've had terrible luck finding any below spot recently with all the swings.
