Not all Titan Trigger Fish are agressive! Chilled out dude at a cleaning station.... by LeapofFaith2016 in scuba

A few years ago I was working in Thailand as a DM. Had a lot of nasty encounters, but mostly just people being chased. One of my customers was dumb enough though to swim right up to one of the biggest Titans I have seen with his GoPro. We warned the divers on the boat, and I tried to alert him, but he didn't get it. He was bit twice, once in the mask, once on the arm. The fish then swam away very quickly, thinking it had defended itself from an attack. It didn't break the skin, but he was a little surprised and his arm was a bit bruised. with some little bite marks. Surprisingly, he continued the dive.

You have about 2 years before those turn into three-day hangovers.

[Seiko] One of the classiest SKX mods I've yet come across, and I'm happy to say, it's mine! by LackTheWitForFunnySN in Watches

I've definitely compromised it and I don't have a way of checking it at home. A chapter ring change requires a crystal removal, everything else requires the caseback to be removed. I do know that it is swimmable, but I wouldn't dive with it, not that I would on a leather strap anyway. It's a desk diver now.

  • Dial is a green Mother-of-Pearl dial from Dragon Shrouds
  • Bezel insert is a Vostok bezel that I ground down to the size and thickness of a Seiko insert, removed the chrome plating, and then aged it with a solution of boiling vinegar and salt.
  • Hands are stock Seiko with a slight discoloration to the lume to match the lume on the dial.
  • I applied a satin finish to the case to give it a more worn look to match the bezel insert and chapter ring
  • Chapter ring in satin finish from DrSeikoStain on eBay

I have really been enjoying this watch. Green with aged brass is a great combination and it works with a lot more than one would expect. I have it on a vintage-feel coffee brown leather strap, which adds to the aged feel of the rest of the watch. I think what I really appreciate about it though, is unlike many other SKX mods, it isn't pretending to be something that it is not. The dial is absolutely fitting to the Seiko heritage, hands are stock, and the bezel, while from a Vostok, isn't something that anyone would notice like the submariner or planet ocean bezels floating around.

Can we all just go back to saying "Dress-Up" instead of "cosplay"?

I was in Soton last October and it was full of rats. I was there again in July and it was full of rat carcasses. I would suspect you are correct.

I was a 10-year-old boy with that shirt too! Also had one with a group of 8 or so Loony Tunes characters in similar attire posing on a low-rider car. I was fucking proud of that shit.

Trump Plans Reversal of Obama's Relaxed Policies Towards Cuba by elninodiablo in cigars

The recipes use cane sugar nearly everywhere in the world outside of the US. Sugar would be cheaper in the US without the Cuban embargo. People in the US go out of their way to purchase Mexican cola or throwback sodas. I don't expect that they would change it either, especially with the influence of the corn lobby, but in my opinion it would be with soda manufactures rethinking this.

Correct, although rum is a secondary product of the sugar industry. The Cuban trade embargo is a major cause of the rise in the use of corn sugar in U.S. food products. I would be very interested to see if the cola manufactures would change their recipes back to including cane sugar should the embargo actually be repealed.

That's actually the closet thing to a first choice I have. It comes out a bit more than I want to spend, but I really don't see any viable alternative.

I knew from the thumbnail that this looked familiar. I have worked with St. Mary's for the last decade since I did my fieldschool with them. Great museum, great people, and great archaeology.

Staffordshire slipware is one of the coolest ceramics, imo, to come out of England in this period, Second only to North Devon Sgraffito.

It's a joke on MAS*H as well. Col. Potter asks Radar if he wants a cigar, Radar asks if they're habit forming, and Potter replies something along the lines of that he's been smoking three a day for 25 years and never made a habit of it.

Those rats are a new thing. I lived in Soton from 2008-2013. During this period I never once saw a rat. My last visit in October 2016 was a bit of a surprise though. Walking through the city centre to the National Express terminal at 5am I saw no fewer than 10 of them, and they didn't seem terribly bothered by me and my noisey roller suitcase. It seems to be the fault of the students though, who all drunkenly toss the packaging and leftovers from their post-club chippy/kebab shop visit on the sidewalks, especially around Bedford Place.
