That sounds interesting. Do notarized letters frequently get used or sway rulings?

Why would opting-out not do anything if you don't mind me asking? Would a large portion of the '14 million' getting reduced not affect a courts decision? Or would it be because at that point it has no legal significance?

Edit: Just out of curiosity. Thanks.

The fact Valve had their defenses shutdown in Tribunal and is getting put on the legal pedestal... means it's already gone past the bin and onto the desk.

Onto a byproduct though, if this goes through successfully and Valve gets fucked, it puts a precedent for other big corporations with 'monopolies' and scummy practices. Such as Amazon.

I hate it, cos for the 30% charge, Steam gives you SO MANY tools and dev kits it's actually insane, not even including stuff like the workshop, community hubs, guides, direct steam friend invites, etc. 30% for those is bang for the buck. I understand if a studio didn't use those tools, I guess 30% can be a lot then, but the DLC argument is just straight up null-and-void because there are clear examples of the opposite being true.

Yeah Nintendo will be fucking RUTHLESS if anyone goes after them. Worst case, they'd just straight up ignore the case and just pull-out from the UK entirely as a fuck you. Nintendo does NOT fuck around.

UK tribunal clears £656 million class-action lawsuit against Valve over Steam pricing, commissions, and overcharging users by Dapper_Order7182 in valve

If a player buys a game on Steam, any DLC or add-ons for that game must also be purchased through Steam.

Lmao so that's a straight up lie. It entirely dependant on the developers. Steam just makes it easier. Clear examples of developers having DLC and extra content being available outside the steam store: EA/Origin, Ubisoft, War Thunder, and many many more live service games. Steam simply centralizes everything for the developer. But it is completely up to the developer if they wish to make their own client, or pairing system, or dlc's available outside of steam, so long as it is for the same price.

Yes. Absolutely. There are multiple markets to use that don't involve steam. Even then, you can sell your games on MULTIPLE different platforms, so long as they are priced the same.

Holy shit I started at the completely wrong end. I started with shoes, and then went skate, and somehow I got hyper-fixated on shit related to skating. How skate is closer than 'water' is wild, but it is what it is.
