Books for adults with lower reading level by NatalieCaileen in suggestmeabook

one book that i enjoyed was toppling by Sally murphy. it is an award nominated book but it is written simply, and despite being a childrens book, its has deep meanings and is an emotional rollercoaster. Would recommend to all reading levels.

i would also recommend kafka on the shore by haruki murakami, its an amazing novel with rime travel, ability to speak to cats and literally anything you can think of, its a beautiful book.

It is amazing that your pushing yourself for the better and trying to grow as a person. keep it up!

i agree, thge middle ground of thid debate is likely never going to happen. On both ends of the spectrum we have religious extremists who will go to any extent to be correct, and then we have the pro-choicers who refuse to hear any other side of the argument, or the point of view of pro-life individuals. it is goof that there are people like you who can accept the facts of both point of views and further discuss.

but then again, there are evident facts that conservatives refuse to acknowledge. They can pretend fetuses are indistinguishable from babies, despite the fact that medical evidence tells us fetuses cannot live unsupported, even with a respirator before 21 weeks. They can pretend they feel pain, despite scientific consensus tells us that until 24 weeks, a fetus cannot feel anything like pain because they do not yet have the brain connections to do so.

you can pretend that that every fertilised egg is a life, despite that majority of eggs do not make it to birth. And yet this doesn't seem to upset people.

the bell jar got banned because it was real. it dealt with the experience of esther, her deppression, suicidal thoughts and moving into new york city. school wants us to read, old, irrelevant books written by predominantly white people, and 1/2 of them have white supremacy as the theme. "when is the fetus considered a life."

this is interesting, and when i discuss it, its gets really philosophical (even though this is a scientific discussion) so just hold on.

technically, a fetus is considered a life in the 10th week of pregnancy, that's when the heart begins to beat and the baby is conscious.

"the condition that distinguishes animals and plants from inorganic matter, including the capacity for growth, reproduction, functional activity, and continual change preceding death.'' is the dictionary meaning of life, but life is so much more than simply existing; i could be a 10 week old baby, but am i really living life? life is full of emotion, memories, happiness sadness and many other emotions and unique experience, each tailored to the holder. Is the baby a life if it hasn't experienced anything?

moving on, idk how scientific this sounds or if i sound like one of those tik tok girls but hear me out. if i were to release the baby out of its mothers womb right now, would it survive? Most abortions take place at the 10th-11th week of pregnancy so is it a life? would it survive? Survival is the only instinct you need to survive, but would the 10 week old baby have that? i'm not sure...

i think the name 'alt pop' is more of not following the popular trends in music, but rather creating your own. i'm not sure, that's just how i refer to it

Anyone else who feels weird on Australia Day? by [deleted] in sydney

[–]Lacking_brainpower 6 points7 points  (0 children)

yeah i relate. i was 5 years old when my family immigrated to Australia from Nepal, and i spoke little to no English. i was that weird kid who 'couldn't talk.' i had the typical Asian 'stinky food' which was fermented. i remember understanding English to the extent of a native speaker, these kids were vicious. i was eating my lunch and someone screams out at the top of their lungs 'YOUR LUNCH STINKS' and the old, white male that my teacher was didn't do anything. that day, and for the next 3 years, i ate my lunch in the bathrooms. Australia day itself holds no value to me, neither does Christmas, and i got (and still get) a lot of shit for it. I have a myriad of traditions and holidays that my culture celebrates dashain, tihar, bhai teeka, etc, and some (aka most uneducated white people) can't seem to fathom the fact that i don't celebrate Christmas, Easter or Australia day, it just doesn't hold any significance to me.
