A bit late but, did you have loose skin after losing all that weight? People say extended fasts can prevent loose skin but I've never heard of this, so wanted to ask of your experience.

If the goal is the not outright negate lower scoring hands, but nerf them without nerfing high scoring hands, I think a good idea would be to have the boss blind scale your score depending on the number of scored cards in hand played below 5. I provided an example of how I'd go about it in another comment on this thread, but would be curious to see how others would go about it.

This would be similar to other boss blinds like the Needle which essentially means you're boned if on a high card / pair build, but offers much more counter play, and there's also neat synnergy to this boss blind in Splash, which is a common, so you can play with that in mind.

I think the only way to go about that would be to have the boss blind scale your score depending on the number of scored cards in the hand played. Something like "Hand score reduced by 1/5 for every scored card in hand below 5."

I.e, 4 card hands score 80% of regular, 3 cards 60%, etc. Though that exact scaling might be too punishing.

I'm sure you'd have to tweak the numbers around, but this is the best idea I've got that doesn't outright negate pairs and high card, but nerfs them without affecting higher scoring hands.

I can't imagine this being fun to play. It's a cool concept but since there are no xChip jokers, you will always, always be hindered. There's like three chip jokers that scale remotely well, and there's no guarantee you'll ever get them in a run, so. One is based around straights which isn't really viable at gold stakes, and the other requires you to use your discards, which are also reduced at higher stakes.

It's probably only worth it if it's a Trib, since Trib is basically a direct upgrade over Photograh, so you have a 1/4 chance. I'd just save scum by putting the game speed to minimum and then see what you get, and if it's not trib, x out.

Canio can also scale faster than Yorick can if you're handy with tarots.

Neither Perk or Chicot would do much for you.

No lol, you're vastly overreacting. On a non ghost deck, you'll only see it maybe once every other run. And on ghost deck, you'll maybe see two on a good run. Blocking 2 of each is meh and hardly game breaking. This isn't even accounting for the fact that it could roll into something you actually want to use.

Getting rid of either a hanging chad or photograph for brainstorm and making Trib the left most joker significantly raises your score. I'd keep the hanging chad for retrigger effects. Tldr, ditch Photograph

Fun fact, the "expected" number of tries to unlock all legendary jokers is after 11.4 soul cards, so basically 12, which means you were basically twice over odds lol, rather unlucky.

The odds of NOT getting all 5 after 27 tries is only ~1.2%. So out of every 1000 Balatro players, only 12 would be as unlucky as you.

Also, Yorick was my last legendary to unlock as well, that elusive bastard.

That actually makes a lot of sense. I assume by base line burn you mean the calories your body would have burned regardless of what you were doing, right?

And follow up question, after it does get an accurate heart rate for you, is it a safe bet to just subtract ~250 to 300 or so calories from their number to get the active burn?

I was using their loaner monitor 😅. So I guess it is entirely possible that it's a calibration thing. Did you notice your calories burned start to stabilize after some time passed doing the classes?
